When the leaves start falling, we’re reaching peak football season. That’s the case at Ford Field, but also on the pitch for Detroit City Football Club as they enter playoff mode this week.

Following the move to Corktown, Detroit will be one of the very few cities that has MLB, NBA, NFL, NHL and United Soccer League teams playing in stadiums within its city boundaries.

Detroit City FC came back to shock the MLS Houston Dynamo and advance to the round of 16 in the U.S. Open Cup.

We chatted with the co-owner of DCFC Alex Wright and DCFC midfielder Maxi Rodriquez about how this Detroit professional soccer team pulled off a major win against a major league soccer team.

WATERFORD, Mich. – Detroit City FC held tryouts for the 2015 season Friday, with over 60 participants showing up and registering for the two-hour event at Oakland Yard in Waterford. Levi Fistrovic, Ross Hendry, Charles McInnes and Kyamran Tairov used to play for NPSL's Quad City team before it became inactive. "Everyone knows about Detroit City FC. "So it's got to be 'you'll never walk alone, walk on, walk on, with hope in your heart." Detroit City FC will open the season with a friendly against the Muskegon Risers on May 9.

DETROIT – Fans at Sunday's Detroit City FC game stood for a minute of silence to remember and honor a soccer referee who died this past week after being struck by a player during an adult league match in Livonia. At the 44th minute of City's game against the Cincinnati Saints, everyone in the stands stood up holding a red card for a minute of silence. LIVONIA, Mich. – Detroit City FC was leading 2-1 late in the game, but couldn't hold on and ended up falling short in penalty kicks. RWB Adria scored in the last minute of stoppage time Wednesday night to force extra time in their first round match of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup at Livonia Stevenson High School.
