It included an allocation to the Michigan Strategic Fund under the Michigan Economic Development Corp. to distribute grants to eligible businesses. The Michigan Small Business Survival Grant Program will award $55 million in grants of up to $20,000 for small businesses that were forced to close and grants of up to $15,000 for the businesses partially closed. They must also employ less than 30 full-time employees and can't apply for the Michigan Small Business Survival Grant Program. The grants are not first-come first-serve, unlike a $10 million strategic fund program in December when more than 22,000 small businesses raced for about 650 grants.

In addition to the $1.58 million in Washtenaw County grants, EGLE will build on the state-wide Know It Before You Throw It recycling education campaign, which launched last year. Western Washtenaw Recycling Authority (WWRA) was awarded $458,370 to purchase sorting equipment and a new truck. Another goal of the Washtenaw County funding is to reduce the number of contaminated recyclables that end up in recycling bins by providing educational messaging.

Ten percent of every recreation passport sale goes to the grant program. “Those visitors represent a direct investment in state parks and local parks, because about $1 from every Recreation Passport purchased funds those local park and recreation grants.”

Nearly $1.7 million in EGLE Charge Up Michigan Program grants will partially fund 36 EV DC fast charging stations with a total of 76 plug-in points for automobiles and light-utility vehicles along well-traveled routes. Public and private entities still can apply for EGLE grants of up to $70,000 per station. Funding for the grants comes from more than $9.7 million allocated to Michigan from the Volkswagen diesel emissions settlement.

Ann Arbor-based not-for-profit organization University Corporation for Advanced Internet Development, also known as Internet2, received a total of $242,640. The grant funding will go towards improving the organizations Broadband Toolkit and custom Broadband Improvement Plan. The two resources help librarians understand broadband infrastructure and internal information technology environments, as well as advocate for library broadband infrastructure needs.

To date, 12 counties have been approved for a total of nearly $1.1 million in CVSF-ER funding, while eight other counties are close to securing another $253,819 in the emergency relief assistance for a working total of $1.3 million. In addition, at least 16 counties so far are either participating or plan to participate in a CVSF-ER grocery voucher program for veterans through the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency (MVAA) and Meijer. As the central coordinating agency for Michigans 550,000-plus veterans and their families, the MVAA facilitates the CVSF-ER program.
