Police describe the gunman as a 140 pound Black man who is 5 feet, 2 inches tall.

TROY, Mich. – Police are looking for two suspects believed to have fired shots into a Troy hotel room early Saturday morning. Troy police say that at about 4 a.m. Saturday, five shots were fired through a sliding glass door and into a hotel room at the Hawthorn Suites. At that time, there were four teenagers from Roseville and Detroit celebrating a sweet 16 birthday party inside the room, police said. Police say two suspects were seen running from the scene of the shooting. They are described as Black males between the ages of 18 and 22 years old with medium heights and medium builds.

NEW YORK A meeting at a hotel in Boston last February may have ignited the spread of the pandemic virus to some 19,000 people in the area, a new study suggests. Health authorities had previously linked the meeting to more than 90 cases among people at the meeting and their contacts. But researchers found that a specific mutation in the virus from people associated with the meeting also showed up in hundreds of other cases, which allowed them to estimate the broader extent of the spread. She and co-authors began their analysis by deciphering the genetic makeup of the new coronavirus that was recovered from people sampled mostly in the Boston area between January and May. But the conference occurred before people in in the Boston area were taking steps to minimize the spread of COVID-19, she said.

PONTIAC, Mich. A family member helped save a young boy from drowning while at a hotel in Pontiac on Friday night. Police say the 5-year-old boy from Detroit was playing with other children at a Marriott Hotel when a family member noticed he had gone under water. The child was submerged in about four feet of water, officials said. A family member pulled the boy from the water and administered CPR right away, police said. The boy was transported to the hospital and is in stable condition.

ROYAL OAK TOWNSHIP, Mich. Michigan State Police (MSP) are investigating a stabbing at a Royal Oak Township hotel that left a man in serious condition Saturday morning. According to a tweet from MSP Metro Detroit, around 6 a.m. 49-year-old man was stabbed during an argument with an individual in the third-floor hallway of the Baymont by Wyndham hotel. According to MGM Midwest COO and President David Tsai, only 40 percent of slot machines will be left running. All of it is costing MGM, and by way of tax dollars, the City of Detroit and the state, millions of dollars. Tsai, who has been with MGM for 13 years said he oversaw the reopening of other casinos in Ohio just last week. He saidWe have Detroit residents currently going to Michigan tribal casinos or casinos in Ohio and Indiana that dont have the level of requirements that we have, he said. The hotel will not be ready to open whenever the casino is allowed to open its doors.

ROCHESTER, Mich. Aside from restaurants and airlines, another industry that has been devastated by the COVID-19 pandemic is hospitality. The Royal Park Hotel in Rochester was the first hotel in Metro Detroit to close temporarily. They are set to reopen Monday and the changes theyre making in order to open safely are things that could be in hotels across the country. Sue Keels, the hotels general manager, said theyre excited and nervous about the uncertainty that comes with opening back up, but that theyre thinking safety first. There are more changes made to give guests peace of mind and keep spread down.
