Happy Monday morning Metro Detroit! I know, I know. At least temperatures have moved into the comfortable zone after a cold front came through here late Sunday and a second cool front moves through this morning. Temperatures are in the upper 50s to low 60s as you head out to begin the work week or take that morning bike ride, walk, or jog. The skies are mostly clear as you head out so grab those sunglasses and maybe throw a sweatshirt in the mix if you’re planning on staying downtown for the return of the Ford Fireworks in Detroit tonight. We will broadcast the great show on Local 4 if you are staying home.

The threat of isolated thunderstorms popping up in a few spots will continue into the evening hours, although many more of us will not see rain than will, with the threat ending by late evening.

It’s been quite a summer. As if the numerous high-end flooding events weren’t enough, the stifling heat and humidity has made life rough especially for those who work outside and those without air conditioning.

The humidity will make it feel more like upper 90s to perhaps even around 100 degrees (36 to 38 degrees Celsius). Actual temperatures will reach the mid 90s (34 to 35 degrees Celsius), with not much breeze to help. Accordingly, the National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for today. Highs again in the mid 90s (35 degrees Celsius), with the heat index possibly exceeding 100 degrees (38 degrees Celsius) during the afternoons. But highs should drop into the upper 80s (31 degrees Celsius), with more manageable humidityand lows Saturday night dropping into the mid 60s (19 degrees Celsius).
