DETROIT – The mother of a Detroit man who was shot and killed on New Year’s Eve says her son’s car was returned to her with evidence from the shooting still left inside. David Grier’s mother, Temekia Grier, says there is no reason why she should have five of those casings and fragments in her possession while the investigation into her son’s murder continues. Ever since her son’s death, Temekia Grier has been trying to work with investigators to solve his murder. A few weeks later, Temekia was able to pick up her son’s car from the Detroit Police Department’s (DPD) impound -- but she didn’t know that there was still evidence inside. The mother discovered five casings and rounds inside the car that were potentially overlooked by homicide investigators at DPD.

DETROIT – A 22-year-old man was shot and killed during a home invasion in the 17600 block of Fenton in Detroit on Monday evening. According to police, the home invasion suspect was killed around 7 p.m. yesterday by a 36-year-old resident of the home after entering it without permission. Police reported that at some point during the incident the resident, a CPL holder, fired several shots at the suspect and killed him. ELBERTA, Mich. – Two people were killed and two more were critically injured in a shooting Friday at a house in northern Michigan’s Benzie County, police said. A mother and her adult son died, while the father and another son were rushed to a hospital, Undersheriff Gregory Hubers said. The shooting occurred in Elberta, a village tucked between Lake Michigan and Betsie Lake. “We don’t believe there are any suspects at large. All of the gunshots occurred ... from people within the residence,” Hubers said.

DETROIT – Tai’raz Moore and his father’s girlfriend, Isis Rimson, were killed execution-style in the basement of a Warren house Oct. 1. Tai’raz’s family said the 6-year-old had a magnetic personality. It was Tai’raz’s aunt who sought to bring the happiness to this affair as she believed Tai’raz himself would have. Community activist Malik Shabazz of the New Marcus Garvey Movement decried the violence that took Tai’raz’s life. We have to love our way out of the abnormal becoming normal, out of the unthinkable becoming doable," Shabazz told the crowd.

Nicholas Bahri, 37, of West Bloomfield township, was arraigned Tuesday on 15 charges in the execution-style killings of a 6-year-old boy, the boy’s father and his father’s girlfriend. Prior to the recent killings, Bahri had developed an extensive criminal history and was released from prison just months ago. “I don’t think that anyone looking at the (criminal) history could forecast the crimes (Bahri) has been accused of, and possibly committed here,” said Local 4′s legal analyst Neil Rockind. Rockind says there are peculiar clues about Bahri’s criminal history. “(Bahri’s criminal record) shows someone who is sick, demented and who has really forfeited their right to to interact with the rest of us,” Rockind said.

DEARBORN HEIGHTS, Mich. – This morning detectives continued an investigation into a double homicide that happened Saturday and has shaken Dearborn Heights. Dearborn Heights police have identified the shooter as a 43-year-old Dearborn Heights man. Both of the victims are also Dearborn Heights residents. According to Dearborn Heights Police Department, he then shot at officers as they continued giving him orders to drop the weapon. In addition to the AR-style rifle, the gunman had another rifle in his bedroom along with about 30 loaded magazines.

Sumpter Township police said he turned himself into the Bay County Sheriff’s Department about 10 p.m. Sunday. Sumpter Township Police said he allegedly confessed to the multiple murders to several people over the phone and through text messages. Sumpter Township police said Bailey will be transferred into their custody soon.

REDFORD TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Redford Township residents Jonclaude Norwood and Melissa Ann Kiserin in connection with the non-fatal shooting of their 5-year-old daughter. Karina Norwood was reportedly shot by her 4-year-old brother. According to police the shooting happened on July 6 at around 1:39 a.m. in the 26500 block of Plymouth Road in Redford Township. Police were called to the area after a child was reportedly shot in the head. The girl’s brother found an unsecured handgun belonging to a relative and shot his sister in the head, according to police.

DUBUQUE, Iowa A suspect in an Iowa killing has been arrested in Michigan. Marshals took 25-year-old Deonte Ellison into custody shortly after 10 a.m. Tuesday in Kalamazoo, Michigan. The Dubuque Police Department says an arrest warrant was issued for Ellison after he was identified as a suspect in the July 2 shooting death of Curtis R. Smothers Jr.Ellison has been transported to the Kalamazoo County Jail, where he awaits extradition to Dubuque. MORE: Michigan News

An initial tweet from Minneapolis police advised the public to avoid the area in Uptown Minneapolis, a commercial district that includes several bars and restaurants. Photographs posted to social media showed windows at the Landmarks Uptown Theatre and another storefront shot out. Screams were audible on a live video posted to Facebook that showed the aftermath at the scene. The area is about 3 miles (5 kilometers) west of the Minneapolis commercial area and neighborhood hit by rioting in the wake of George Floyds May 25 death after being arrested by Minneapolis police. Even the most aggressive proponents for change have acknowledged its many months away and theyre not sure what it will look like.

DETROIT One person was killed and 11 others were injured in shootings during the first weekend of Summer in Detroit. The second shooting Sunday took place at around 6:05 a.m. in the 19300 block of Cameron in Detroit. On Saturday there was a non-fatal shooting at around 10:30 p.m. in the 8000 block of Livernois in Detroit. The last shooting Saturday night took place at around 11:50 p.m in the 12000 block of Cheyenne in Detroit. Police say victim was hospitalized and as of Sunday listed in temporary serious condition.

DETROIT A 30-year-old man was fatally shot on Memorial Day during a gathering, Detroit police say. According to police, the shooting happened Monday at 2:55 a.m. in the 5000 block of Barham Street in Detroit. Police say the shooting took place at the gathering when two unknown men arrived in a silver Sedan and started arguing with the victim. The unknown men got out of the Sedan during the argument and allegedly started shooting at the victim multiple times. DETROIT – Sources tell Local 4 Kenyel Brown, the man wanted for three homicides out of River Rouge and a deadly shooting in Detroit Thursday night is also suspected of being connected to a fifth fatal shooting that happened Saturday morning in Detroit. The body of a 36-year-old man was found in the back room of a vacant building in the area.
