We have light snow around during the early morning hours and it will get heavier at times today creating very tricky travel conditions. Most of Metro Detroit is in a Winter Weather Advisory for 3-6โ of snow creating dangerous travel all day today and it lasts until midnight. Parts of the thumb in our North Zone is under a Winter Storm Warning for 5-10โ of snow and blowing snow. Be careful driving today, and be watchful of those other cars out there that may not heed our warnings.

The 4 Live Radar has been tracking a couple of thunderstorms Tuesday afternoon in Southeast Michigan, but so far the severe weather has remained south. We technically still have a marginal risk for severe weather, but the likelihood is pretty low. For the Fourth of July on Thursday, we cant escape the outside chance at a thunderstorm, with nearly identical heat and humidity from days before. Friday is our one last day in this pattern with scattered afternoon thunderstorms and highs near 90 degrees.

Weve already received reports of quarter-sized hail from storms earlier today. 4 Live Radar is indicating that storms in our North Zone are capable of producing ping pong ball sized hail. A damaging wind gust cant be ruled out, but hail is what has us most concerned.
