Allow us to make the decision to work with our businesses, whether its gyms, whether its the entertainment venues like Emagine theater, or the ice arenas or roller rinks, Hackel said. Hackel cites the flattening of the COVID-19 curve and low death rate as the reason its time to extend counties the same ability schools have. The state allowed each district to come up with its own coronavirus school restart plan. Macomb County Sheriff Anthony Wickersham is on board with the requirement, urging people to wear face masks and businesses to require them. Whitmer, the department just doesnโt have the resources to respond to every complaint about people not complying with the mask requirement. Hackel believes the new mask requirement is a knee-jerk reaction to recent events, and that it is not democratic. As of Monday, Michigan is reporting 69,722 COVID-19 cases and 6,075 deaths -- and increase of 384 new cases and seven deaths since Sunday.

The Macomb County Road Commission selected an Abominable Snowman drawn by Carys Arnold. โMy little brother Cullen saw me signing this and he goes, โYou could put blood on the teeth,โ and my thought was a friendly, nice little Yeti, Abominable Snowman. The students who entered the contest helped paint the design on a plow that will make its rounds this winter.

Sheriff Tony Wickersham and county executive Mark Hackel, the former sheriff, invited Local 4 in to a sweltering intake cell usually used for inmates detoxing or sobering up. The cell has been used since 1951. Officials are proposing a millage that would likely cost the average homeowner around $98 per year for twenty years.
