Dry conditions are anticipated for the rest of the day until around 7 p.m. when scattered snow showers will return.

What a weekend.  After sunshine with highs in the low-to-mid-50s (10 to 12 degrees Celsius) on Saturday, Mother Nature did an about face that left us with rain and temps near 40 degrees (4 to 5 degrees Celsius) on Sunday.

As I write this, Hurricane Ian is making its second landfall in two days, with the South Carolina coast bearing the brunt. As the storm progresses up the east coast, we’ll be on the fringe of its moisture shield, so expect our mostly clear skies Friday evening to become partly cloudy on Saturday.

It’s been another cool day with showers in the area, most numerous across the northern half of the area, with just scattered showers across the southern half.

The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for all of southeast Michigan until 1:00 p.m.

The early morning rain and thunder is settling down as the showers move out of the area through the rest of this Wednesday morning.

We had to close a few windows early this Tuesday morning if you opened them as the cold front came through late yesterday. Temperatures here in Metro Detroit are in the middle and upper 50s outside your home under mostly clear skies and a lighter wind NW 5-10mph and with some of that patchy fog. Fog is unavoidable for parts of our area following a little bit of rain and a dip in morning temps. It will warm nicely throughout the day today with sun and a shift in the wind.

To start our Monday morning, Exact Track 4D Radar at the time I am writing this (3:15 a.m.) shows a compact batch of showers with briefly heavy rain tracking eastward from western lower Michigan.

Sunshine and more humid weather moves in before a few stronger storms are possible on Monday

It’s going to be a muggy end to the work week.

Showers and storms continue to move through southeast Michigan Sunday afternoon, giving way to heavy downpours and some gusty winds.

Main concern will be strong damaging winds, but isolated flooding due to heavy downpours is also something to keep an eye out for.

It’s double trouble for Metro Detroit on this Wednesday. Happy Hump Day! The best part of our day will be the morning hours, the best and safest for any kind of working out or working outside. Temperatures are in the middle 60s to near 70 degrees as you hit the road with dry conditions throughout the morning across SE Lower Michigan and Southern Ontario. Now, it’s time to talk about that trouble coming our way.

The weather is going to be really nice if you’re going out to vote for the rest of Tuesday. Temperatures will be in the lower 80s before falling into the 70s in the evening.

We’re tracking the potential for a few storms to develop through Monday afternoon.

Storm Tracker 4 Radar is picking up scattered rain and thundershowers moving through Metro Detroit from northwest to southeast this morning. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like everybody is going to get showers, and what showers you do get won’t make a very big difference to our parched ground. Still, every little bit helps. A few areas (North and West Zones) may see a couple of rounds of morning showers producing a quarter to a half an inch of rain as a cool front slowly brushes by our area. Even though the showers are not widespread, they will continue past sunrise impacting parts of our morning drive with temperatures in the middle 60s as you head out. The umbrella will not be needed all day.

Monday (May 30) starts two days of hotter than average weather; We will have sunshine and temperatures approaching Recker territory. The weather will be favorable for holiday parades and commemorations.

Tuesday (May 10) feels and looks like summer the rest of the afternoon and this evening. Clouds increase Tuesday night with a slight chance of wet and stormy weather to our west; Wednesday and the rest of the week will be just as warm or warmer with sunshine returning. There is a better chance of showers and storms this weekend.

Tonight becomes colder and frost is possible, again, and a bit more patchy. Tomorrow becomes milder with more sunshine. Saturday will be mostly dry. Sunday will start with showers and storms very early.

The rain we woke up to this morning moved out right on schedule, and abundant sunshine graced our skies this afternoon. Yes, it was breezy with 25 to 30-mph gusts (also right on schedule), but those breezes didn’t feel all that bad with temperatures that soared into the (16 to 17 degrees Celsius).

Tuesday (April 12) night will have increasing clouds as a frontal system approaches. Showers and thunderstorms are possible tomorrow, and some may become severe. Tonight becomes cloudy or with a warm front on the way. A scattered sprinkle or light showers is possible, but most neighborhoods will be dry.

We have spectacular weather today with sunshine and warmth. Tonight’s weather will be calm as well. But the weather can turn on a dime in Detroit in Southeast Michigan. Showers, thunderstorms, and severe weather are possible tomorrow through the morning afterward.

Tonight has fewer scattered rain before midnight. As temperatures drop, scattered rain transforms into scattered snow.

The Local 4Casters are tracking the possibility of severe weather Wednesday in Metro Detroit.

Scattered strong-to-severe thunderstorms have developed south of a warm front this afternoon in Indiana and Ohio, and they’re headed our way. The key to those storms maintaining their severity as they move into Michigan will be how far north that warm front makes it because we will not see severe weather north of the front. Right now, I think the front will potentially cross the state line into Lenawee and southwest Monroe counties, so that’s where the best chance is for marginally severe wind gusts and marginally severe hail into the evening hours.

It’s been a relatively quiet, mild last day of 2021, but our New Year’s Eve could bring a few rain showers if you’ll be out.

After an active start to the week, we finally have a couple of relatively quiet days before the weekend storm arrives.

We started the week with two storms in two days, and now the third storm of the week approaches tonight. We need a break, and fortunately, this storm will be the least impactful of the week.

While most of us won’t have the white Christmas we want, I always say that if it’s not going to be white, it might as well be warm. And warm it is -- some parts of the area have already hit 50 degrees (10 degrees Celsius) this afternoon.

Sunshine broke through as expected today so, even with afternoon highs generally only in the low 40s (6 degrees Celsius), that sunshine made all the difference, and it really wasn’t a bad day at all.

Showers and storms are possible again Saturday. They will be more widely scattered and less frequent than yesterday or earlier this week. We’ll experience more sunshine and warmer than average weather is here to stay for the holiday weekend.

Flood Warnings are in effect for the Clinton, Huron and Rouge Rivers indefinitely.

The threat of isolated thunderstorms popping up in a few spots will continue into the evening hours, although many more of us will not see rain than will, with the threat ending by late evening.

Heat indices are sky high again Thursday afternoon. Isolated showers and storms are popping in a few areas now, then a few more before the sun sets.

Get set to sweat, as we are facing an extended stretch of hot, steamy weather. It will be very uncomfortable at times, and even dangerous to some.

Sunday evening and tonight we get just what we need -- a well-deserved break from stormy weather and high humidity.

A Flash Flood Warning is in effect for central and southern Oakland County until 12:45 a.m. ET, Sunday.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect for Genesee, Lapeer, Livingston, Macomb, Oakland, Sanilac, St. Clair, Washtenaw and Wayne counties until 10 p.m. ET.

After starting the holiday weekend below normal, we’re well above that mark and getting hotter.

There will be abundant sunshine on Saturday. It will be crisp in the morning and warm in the afternoon. The humidity will be tolerable but a bit higher later tonight with mild conditions. Tomorrow will be hotter with the higher heat and humidity staying a couple days after the holiday weekend.

Heat will be building as we head into the weekend. And storms will be returning to our backyard as well.

The final full Sunday of Spring 2021 will be spectacular.

We may have said goodbye to the 70s for at least a week. Heat really starts to build in the next couple days.

Sunday morning’s showers moved out right on schedule, leaving us with a very pleasant afternoon that I hope you had a chance to enjoy.

DETROIT – Another 70-degree finish awaits before a more seasonably spring finish to the forecast, including plenty of wind and rain. Three Rounds of RainOur weather pattern gets very active this week as we’ll deal with three rounds of rain in seven days. Model calculations show we may end up with more than an inch of rain out of that system alone. And we’ll be back below normal by Monday of next week, with a high in the low 40s. By then our normal high will be 52 with only three days remaining in March.

DETROIT – Temperatures tumble tonight to our coldest point in more than two years. Temperatures will tumble to their lowest point since February 2019. But a lot of areas (if not most) outside the Metro Zone are on their way to negative numbers for overnight lows. Here’s some hope: temperatures will be on a slow, steady rise from that point into early next week. Past that point, we can actually look for some above normal temperatures.

DETROIT – Our forecast gets very wintry, very quickly with the coldest, windiest and snowiest conditions on Christmas Day. We’ll wake up to less than an inch of snow on Christmas Eve morning. As the main system pulls away, we’ll spend several hours dry, before winds kick up in the evening, bringing lake-effect snow showers that will hang around off-and-on through Christmas Day. Christmas Eve’s high will come before sunrise, then temperatures will fall through the 20s during the day. Temperatures will be closer to normal with dry conditions both days, until a mix of rain and snow arrives late on Sunday.

That’s well above normal highs in the mid 30s. Rain & snow moving inFriday will stay dry until after sunset. That’s when we can expect scattered snow showers, but with much less moisture and intensity. From there, daytime highs stay right around normal through next week, most of which will be dry. The only decent precipitation shot will be snow showers on Wednesday.

The calmest weather of the month is here for the weekend and, at least, the next five to seven days. Temps will be near 40 degrees, which is the Motor City’s average high for this time of year. Chillier, brighter weekendSaturday will be mostly to partly sunny and cold. Afternoon temps will be back in the middle and upper 30s after morning temps in the low and mid 20s. Next weekMonday and Tuesday will be partly sunny and not as cold.

DETROIT – A winter weather advisory has been issued for Lenawee, Livingston, Macomb, Monroe, Oakland, St. Clair, Washtenaw and Wayne counties until 8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 22. Sunday morning will include snow during the wee hours, then change to a snow and rain mix toward dawn. Sunrise is at 7:33 a.m.Sunday afternoon will have snow and rain showers with highs only in the middle 30s. Sunset is at 5:06 p.m.Sunday evening will have scattered snow showers. The sun reappears with highs near 50 degrees.

DETROIT – Clouds aren’t budging, keeping cool conditions in our corner of the state, but we spot some changes ahead and they’re just in time for the weekend. Last Gray DayExpect clouds to remain through most of tonight, then start to break up close to sunrise on Friday morning. But as we transition to a brighter, milder forecast, that main rain axis that has been residing in northern Lower Michigan will slowly sink south, bringing light scattered showers back to the forecast tonight. There may still be a few drops around in the South Zone as we start Friday morning. Clouds will return in the afternoon, but the should be mixed up with the sun, not solid overcast.

Well stay below normal both Thursday and Friday with highs in the low 70s. Weekend RainIf youre going to deal with rain on the weekend, squeezing into the non-daylight hours is the best you can hope for. But the majority of Sunday will remain dry. Settling InNext week seems to find the equilibrium between our two extremes this week. And it looks well stay dry through Friday at least.

Lots of clouds, cool temperatures and hit-and-miss rain chances abound. Rain amounts should be light, especially compared to what we picked up over the long weekend (2 inches plus in some spots!). Even though temperatures will be within a few degrees of normal, the persistent cloud cover and light rain chances will make it feel cooler. Weekend temperatures will be slightly warmer but fall short of 80 degrees, before we cool below normal again early next week. Outside of that, we should get at least some sunshine, with our warmest temperatures of the forecast, highs in the mid-to-upper 80s.

This evening and tonight will be warm to mild and comfortable, again. The weekend will be warm with showers and thunderstorms thrown back into the mix. Saturday will be partly sunny warm. Afternoon temps will be in the low 80s. Itll be more comfortable as well with daytime temperatures in the upper 70s and low 80s each day.

DETROIT – Our rainfall deficit is getting worse across southeast Michigan, but the weekend opportunities to get wet are looking better. The good news is areas that are in a moderate drought didn’t get any worse. We’re fairly confident that the higher rainfall totals will be in the South Zone and up the east side. Here’s some bonus good news: some models are suggesting we may keep rain chances around into Tuesday as well! Believe it or not, we could actually have more than one day next week with highs below 80!

DETROIT Even though most of us didnt get appreciable rain on Monday, those who did were in the most drought-stricken areas. Right now, it looks like the South Zone has the best chance of getting wet. Staying ComfortableTemperatures will be consistent through the week, running near normal. We should cool by a few degrees early next week, but it wont be a huge departure. This has been the sixth hottest July on record, and even though we may fall a spot or two by the end of the work week, it will still be a top ten finish.

DETROIT Were 20 days into July and just one of those days have brought below normal temperatures. And we have just one more day at that mark, before normal temperatures start decreasing into autumn. Beyond that, well be consistently in the mid 80s for highs through the end of the work week. Then, in a similar setup to last week, well finish the work week dry. Then we slide down just a bit closer to normal for the remainder of the 10 Day Forecast.

DETROIT Ninety degree days will stack up through next week, bringing us our longest streak in more than 30 years. Humidity will rise to muggy levels Friday, but dry out over Saturday and Sunday. That will put heat index readings in the upper 90s next week, possibly touching 100 at times. The Detroit record for 90 degree days in a row is 11, set in 1953. Parts of Wayne, Monroe and Lenawee county have been in that classification since last week.

DETROIT Describing the forecast as a heat wave may be an understatement. Well have at least nine straight days of highs above 90. We put together 8 straight days in July 1987. Humidity wont be all that bad for most of the stretch. Unfortunately the heat may get worse toward the middle of the month, before we see some minor relief around the 16th.

DETROIT Tropical Depression Cristobal is now inland and will head toward Michigan in the coming days. Hottest Day YetExpect the mercury to touch 90 on Tuesday, which will be the first time we'll reach that milestone this year. Last Rain ChanceThere may be some widely scattered daytime showers, before a more organized line of thunderstorms moves through Wednesday evening. Many of us have picked up less than a half inch of rain since the middle of last month. Well get plenty of sunshine and low humidity on our last full weekend of Spring.
