The victim was about to sell the man inside the truck marijuana, according to police. As the victim was standing and talking, another man got out of the truck, took the marijuana and then shot him. The first suspect is described as a Black man in his 20s who was wearing all black. The second suspect is described as a Black man in his 20s who was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, light colored pants and armed with a handgun.

According to Detroit Police Chief James Craig, officers were looking for a person involved in a Fourth of July shooting that left five people hurt and three others dead. Video of the shooting shown at the press conference showed Littleton was armed with a 25 caliber blue steel semi automatic pistol. He also noted that a group was present at the scene of the shooting and threw rocks and bottles at officers. Eventually the rally would come to a halt at Detroit Police Departments 12th Precinct, where protesters came face-to-face with a much larger group of police -- however, this interaction was much more peaceful. Todays shooting incident involving the tragic death of young Mr. Hakim Littleton by a Detroit Police officer is indeed heartbreaking. We are also very pleased that none of the officers involved in the incident were seriously injured nor did it result in a fatality among their ranks.
