HOLLAND, Mich. – New Holland Brewing Co.'s newest offering is a light white ale brewed with Lake Michigan water. The Holland, Michigan brewery recently introduced Lightpoint Functional White Ale, a brew the company says is made with natural ingredients, including raw honey, coconut water and orange peels. "We all look forward to the light point in our day or in our workout,” said Adam Dickerson, New Holland brand manager. “Here in west Michigan, the sunset over Lake Michigan symbolizes that moment of rest. Lightpoint Functional White Ale will be available across the brewery’s distribution network beginning March 1.

COMSTOCK, Mich. – Only one Michigan-made beer landed on the list of the 10 most checked in beers on Untappd -- Bell’s Two Hearted Ale. The app Untappd allows users to check in beers, rate the brews, share suggestions with their friends and keep track of their favorites. According to stats from the app, beer drinkers posted they were drinking Two Hearted 124,577 times this year. Bell’s Brewery is in Comstock, Mich. DETROIT – Breweries across Michigan and beyond banded together after a tumor was discovered on a beer delivery driver’s brain. M4 CIC, the beer wholesaler Baker works for, asked the breweries it works with to help. Detroit’s Batch Brewing Company is currently brewing a fresh batch of O.P.G. Each year, the Drafting Table Brewing Company in Wixom picks a nonprofit to support on Christmas Eve. Other breweries expected to help with beer releases over the next few months include Brew Detroit, City Built Brewing Company, Ellison Brewery and Spirits and Speciation Artisan Ales.

DETROIT – Brew Detroit introduced cold brew variety packs that have four coffee beers, including a new flavor -- Mocha Habanero. The Cold Brew Detroit packs contain a can of the Regular coffee stout, Churro, Horchata and Mocha Habanero. Churro, Horchata, and Mocha Habanero are currently on tap at the Brew Detroit taproom at 1401 Abbott in Detroit. The four-packs will be available Nov. 24.

COMSTOCK PARK, Mich. – A limited-release Barrel-Aged Specialty Pack from Perrin Brewing Co. features Malted Milk Ball and Perrin Reserve. The special pack from the Comstock Park, Michigan, brewery includes a 22-ounce bottle of each beer and a 10-ounce Perrin Reserve glass. Malted Milk Ball, a 12 percent ABV brew, was aged in oak bourbon barrels for nine months. Perrin Reserve, also a 12 percent ABV beer, was aged in bourbon barrels. DETROIT – Founders Brewing Co. and an employee who filed a racial discrimination lawsuit against the Michigan brewery have reached a settlement agreement. The terms of the agreement between Founders and Tracy Evans will not be discussed, according to a Facebook post from the brewery. CLAWSON, Mich. – Black Lotus Brewing Co. will close its doors this week after spending 13 years in Clawson. The owner told employees Monday that Black Lotus is closing Thursday because business hasn’t been good enough to stay open. Manager Christina Teichman said brewery employees are trying to figure out what to do now that they are out of jobs. Teichman said the owner told them not to immediately cash their checks when they receive them Friday. “When I talked to the owner, he said he would let us know when we could cash them," she said.
