ROCHESTER, Mich. – Officials notified the public Wednesday of a sexual assault reported on the campus of Oakland University. According to notice from the Oakland University Police Department, on Wednesday a female student reported that a male non-student sexually assaulted her on the campus at about 5 p.m. on November 13. The man reportedly assaulted the student in his vehicle in the P-5 parking lot on the northwest side of campus, police said. DETROIT – Detroit will be one of four regional hosts for the 2024 NCAA men’s basketball tournament. It will be the third time Little Caesars Arena has hosted NCAA Tournament action. The arena hosted first- and second-round games in 2018 and will do the same for the 2021 tournament. ROCHESTER, Mich. Another tool in the fight against coronavirus (COVID-19) is coming to Oakland University. Oakland University made the announcement last week. If its not mandatory, then its like, you know, what is it even really achieving, Oakland University student Natalie said. Wha tthe very beginnings of COVID infection look like, said David Stone, Oakland Universitys Chief Research Officer. That strikes us as a really valuable tool in trying to battle the spread of coronavirus, Stone said.

Oakland University will require residents to wear a “BioButton” in residence halls when students return to campus this fall amid the coronavirus pandemic. “In order to lower the risk of virus outbreaks on campus a BioButton screening tool is being used. A group of Oakland University students have launched a petition against the policy, citing an intrusion of privacy and data. The university is also advising the BioButton to be worn by faculty, staff, and students who will be on campus regularly. The incoming college freshman has a career plan for his life thanks to help from Ceasefire Youth Initiative. The model for Ceasefire Youth Initiative is men stand up, boys sit down, explained the non-profit CEO Reggie Reg Davis. Our program involves men who go into the schools and we mentor young men, he explained. There were five young men between the ages of 13 and 20 that decided to take his life. DETROIT Wayne State and Oakland University will join the likes of Harvard, MIT and the University of Michigan in a fight to keep international students from being deported. The White House said if colleges dont reopen, international students will have to finish their studies online from their home countries. Rather than letting their international students be deported if schools to go a 100 percent online learning model -- they are figuring out how to make courses with the minimum bar of accommodation to keep those students visas safe. Yue Zhuo, an international student from China, left her home country to become an educator at Oakland University. She wouldnt be able to go back to China to continue her work online because of government censorship.

Central Michigan UniversityCentral Michigan University will welcome students back to campus for the Fall 2020 semester. The college will then offer online courses, online and in-person hybrid courses and web-enhanced courses -- which are mainly for health and occupational students and consist primarily of in-person classes with online educational tools. Northern Michigan UniversityNorthern Michigan University will resume in-person classes in the fall one week early beginning August 17. The college says that enrollment for classes is open, but it is unclear if in-person classes will resume in the fall. Western Michigan UniversityWestern Michigan University has not yet announced a plan for the upcoming fall semester.
