ORION TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A man was brought back to life Friday morning by an Oakland County Sheriff’s deputy after he had overdosed on heroin. The man and his driver were both unconscious behind the wheel of a moving pickup truck. The deputy was dispatched to the scene near the border of Auburn Hills and Orion Township. With the clock ticking, he used two shots of Narcan to slowly bring the man back to life. As the man regained consciousness, he was disoriented and began communicating with the first responders.

ORION TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A man and a woman from Pontiac were arrested overnight after a deputy found them inside a car containing drugs and cash, officials said. A 19-year-old Pontiac woman sitting in the front passenger seat admitted to having a large amount of suspected narcotics in her clothing, according to the deputy. She turned the suspected narcotics over and was taken into custody without incident, authorities said. AdA K-9 unit arrived and conducted a search, alerting deputies to the center console and front seat areas of the vehicle, according to officials. Deputies said they found narcotic paraphernalia, a smaller sum of cash and suspected narcotics in the center console.

ORION TOWNSHIP, Mich. – An Orion Township man was arrested for beating his pregnant girlfriend after a neighbor saw the woman trying to escape through a window of the mobile home, only to be pulled back in, according to police. A neighbor called police and told them a woman had made several attempts to exit the mobile home, only to be pulled back inside, deputies said. When officials went to the front door, they were met by a woman, and a man was in the living room, according to authorities. AdThe 22-year-old Orion Township man told deputies he and his pregnant girlfriend, an 18-year-old Orion Township woman who also lived at the home, got into an argument about money, according to authorities. Police said the man told them he told his girlfriend to leave, but when she tried to do so he stopped her because she doesn’t have anywhere else to go.

“I would say this is wrong,” said Michigan Rep. John Reilly. The state of Michigan is currently in vaccination phase 1-B, which began on Jan. 11. “They said 80 percent of their people are over 75 and they have not been able to get the vaccine,” Reilly said. “Oakland County has offered to administer the COVID vaccine to the county’s state representatives, seniors and commissioners because continuity of government is a vital public interest during the pandemic,” Mullan’s statement reads. Local health departments have the option to prioritize the groups within the guidance they feel are most at risk and at highest need of vaccination.

ORION TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A 78-year-old Orion Township woman was scammed out of more than $29,000, according to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies said a scammer called the woman claiming to be an Amazon employee to verify that she purchased $8,000 worth of Apple products. Deputies said after the purchase was disputed, the caller transferred the woman to someone claiming to be a member of the Michigan State Police to make a report. The fake MSP trooper told the woman that she needed to provide all of her banking information to file the report. “Scammers continue to evolve their tactics and try to find ways to outsmart citizens,” said Oakland County Sheriff Michael J. Bouchard.

ORION TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A Rochester Community Schools coach is in police custody for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend in Orion Township. According to the Oakland County Office, deputies responded on Sunday night to a home where they found the girlfriend semi-conscious and covered in blood. PREVIOUS: Rochester Community Schools basketball coach arrested, district officials sayThe coach was taken into custody Monday morning, and charges are pending. Rochester Community Schools district said the Van Hoosen Middle School coach was fired after district officials learned of the arrest. Rochester Community Schools continues to work collaboratively with the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office and will not speculate during an ongoing investigation.

ORION TOWNSHIP, Mich. – The body of an Orion Township woman was left in her bedroom for more than three weeks until authorities issued a welfare check Sunday. According to authorities, at about 11:30 a.m. Oakland County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a home on Conklin Road for a welfare check after someone believed there was a dead body within the home. Deputies said Animal Control was called to the scene for the removal of two dogs that were preventing Deputies from entering the home. When deputies made entry into the home, they said they found a deceased woman in an upstairs bedroom and a deceased dog in the basement. Authorities said the daughter told the deputies she was overwhelmed and was not emotionally prepared to deal with the death.

ORION TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A 24-year-old man was taken into police custody Friday morning after biting an Oakland County deputy. According to authorities, deputies were dispatched to Johnny Black’s Public House, located on Baldwin Road in Orion Township, just before 1 a.m. due to an intoxicated person. Police said the deputies provided several requests to back away while they continued their investigation, but the man did not comply. Police said a deputy attempted to escort the man away from the investigation when he pushed the deputy and while attempted to secure the man in handcuffs, the “highly intoxicated” man bit the deputy on his arm, drawing blood. The 24-year-old man was taken into custody and lodged at the Oakland County Jail, pending the issuance of a criminal charge.

Officials said the woman was leaving Chipotle with her food and the mother and her daughters were going in. It happened on Wednesday at about 6 p.m. in a quiet shopping area outside a Chipotle Mexican Grill on Baldwin Road. Oakland County Sheriff’s Deputies were there almost immediately after calls were placed to 911. According to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office, the couple claimed to fear for their lives after their vehicle was struck with a hand by the other party.

Takelia Hill, who is Black, told the newspaper that it happened after the white woman bumped into Hill's teenage daughter as they were entering the fast food restaurant. ORION TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Two people are charged in connection to an altercation Wednesday at a Chipotle parking lot in Orion Township. A video first shared on Twitter and another video uploaded to YouTube show what appears to be three women in a verbal altercation with another woman and her husband. The verbal altercation ensued as the mother called the woman in question a racist, and the woman can be heard defending herself. The woman then entered her vehicle and her husband briefly continued the verbal altercation with the mother and daughter outside of the vehicle. The verbal altercation continued while the woman pointed the weapon at the group.

Unlike last year, there will be no tables or chairs, guests are expected to walk around the park at a safe distance, going from food stand to food stand. Currently, there are 25 food trucks expected to be in attendance, and they may add a few more before the event this Saturday. Galindo’s “A Taste of Mexico” food truck is returning for its second year at the rally.

BRANDON TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Police have arrested a man suspected of breaking into and robbing several convenience stores around Oakland County. Officials said Nathan James Calhoun, 28, of Brandon Township, is accused of breaking into stores in Orion, Brandon and Independence townships. At 12:49 a.m. Sunday, Calhoun broke into the Indianwood Junction Party Stop at 20 North Baldwin Road in Orion Township, according to authorities. Deputies said they went to the Mobil gas station at 1152 South Ortonville Road in Brandon Township at 1:52 a.m. for a glass breaking alarm. Someone had broken into the gas station, but nobody was there, officials said.

LAKE ORION, Mich. – Health officials have confirmed a case of rabies in a skunk found in Oakland County. The Oakland County Health Division announced Friday that the rabies case was confirmed in a skunk from Lake Orion. Health officials advised staying away from stray, wild and dead animals to protect against rabies. “Rabies is a fatal disease and there is no known cure.” said Leigh-Anne Stafford, a health officer for Oakland County. ORION TOWNSHIP, Mich. – The family of Orion Township Supervisor Chris Barnett was forced to travel to China and back amid the coronavirus outbreak. Barnett said there were some scary moments for his family, but they have since returned to the United States safe and healthy. His sister, who lives in China, became critically ill, but it was unrelated to the coronavirus. “It was scary,” Barnett said. “They pulled us off the plane,” Barnett said.

ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. – Police are asking for help in identifying people wanted for theft from a Rochester Hills business on Sunday. The people are accused of stealing over $2,000 worth of products. The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office believes they could be involved with a similar incident in Orion Township. ORION TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Two men robbed a gas station clerk at gunpoint early Tuesday in Orion Township. Authorities said the men also demanded the woman’s cellphone. She said she didn’t have one, but they saw it on the counter and took it. One of the men was wearing a blue hooded jacket and orange work gloves. The other man was wearing a black hooded jacket and blue work gloves.

INDEPENDENCE TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A 13-year-old girl was killed Tuesday in Oakland County when the snowmobile she was riding on crashed into the back of another snowmobile, ejecting her, according to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office. Police said the girl, from Orion Township, was a passenger on a snowmobile driven by a 13-year-old Orion Township boy. The boy was following his 55-year-old father, from Independence Township, who was also riding a snowmobile, according to deputies. Oakland County deputies and Independence Township firefighters were called at 4:09 p.m. Tuesday to the area of Whipple Lake and North Eston roads in Independence Township. (WDIV)ORION TOWNSHIP, Mich. - An Oakland County man was found sobbing and bleeding on a sidewalk after he strangled and stabbed his mother to death and injured his uncle, police said. A 60-year-old Orion Township man called police and said he had been stabbed by his nephew -- a 29-year-old Orion Township man. The 60-year-old man said he woke up and heard Roberts call for help, so he went into the living room. He saw the 29-year-old man strangling Roberts with both hands, authorities said. The 29-year-old man was treated for a suspected self-inflicted stab wound to the neck and taken to the Oakland County Jail pending criminal charges, police said.
