Last weekend was very autumnal and then we spent the first half of the week tracking showers moving at us from the east instead of the west which is a little unusual. Here we are on the final workday of the week and it’s going to be a good one here around Metro Detroit as we start with more of that comfy air in the upper 50s to low 60s for anyone heading out early. Skies are mostly clear other than some of that patchy fog in some of our rural suburbs so be on the lookout. Most of you will be trouble free walking to work or hitting the road.

Our temps are in the upper teens to low 20s but the breeze makes it feel like single digits to low teens which means layer and bundle up and take a little time to warm up the car if you are so lucky. Some of that crazy snow from Monday and overnight may create some icy spots on the roads, especially on bridges, ramps, and overpasses. Be careful.

In the $17.6 billion education budget, which the Senate and House approved 36-1 and 103-2, K-12 will see a 1.4% funding boost. In the $45.1 billion general budget, the governor and lawmakers agreed to restore funding she had vetoed in March to save money due to the pandemic. Departments will trim a total of $250 million, largely through reductions in the multibillion-dollar Medicaid budget that will not directly affect services, said state spokesman Kurt Weiss. As part of the federal relief package, the state government received $3 billion in assistance.
