Police identified the parents of the newborn child on Sunday. The newborn baby was reportedly cold to the touch and lost a large amount of blood due to the umbilical cord not being clamped off, officials said. The baby reportedly required a blood transfusion at the hospital. The man who dropped off the baby was reportedly questioned by police and released pending further investigation.

A man pulled up to Sinai-Grace hospital in the 6000 block of West Outer Drive at 9:27 a.m. on Thursday, exited his vehicle and asked another person who was entering the hospital to hold the baby until he parked the vehicle. The man is described as a Black man in his late 40s or early 50s. Police said he is between 5 feet 10 inches tall or 6 feet 2inches tall and has a medium brown complexion. He was last seen wearing an unknown light-colored hate, light-colored short sleeve shirt and light-colored pants with the left leg of the pants pulled up.

Norwood and Fields were walking along West McNichols Road between Meyers Road and Schaefer Highway when they were struck by a driver, according to authorities. Their families said they were killed by a drunken driver, but Wayne County prosecutors said Monday that there isn't enough evidence of wrongdoing. When Norwood and Fields were struck, there was nothing the driver could have done differently, according to prosecutors.
