A winter weather advisory is in effect for Genesee, Lapeer and Sanilac Counties from 2:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday.

Slippery weather returns tomorrow night and early Tuesday. Pets need to be indoors, too, as temperatures fall to the low 20s, Sunday night. Some slippery weather develops Monday night and early Tuesday morning. Tuesday afternoon will be cloudy with scattered light rain. MLK Day will still be chilly with a healthy amount of clouds. Scattered flurries and light snow showers develop mainly north of 8 Mile Road. In Detroit and south of 8 Mile, some rain may mix with snow and a trace to 1 inch of snow possible. Welcome to MLK Day, Monday! Tuesday and Wednesday will be mostly cloudy with on and off flurries and light snow.

Much of next week will be chilly by day and cold by night. Saturday morning will have scattered snow and freezing rain. As it expands, light snow spreads across the region, from Lenawee and Monroe counties northward over Detroit and through The Thumb by dawn. Tomorrow will be cloudy, chilly but dry. After a bit of sunshine the middle of next week, slippery weather, including snow, returns for Christmas Eve and part of Christmas Day. Monday afternoon will be mostly cloudy and chilly with light snow and rain returning.
