A $200,000 two-part donation is set to provide masks to about 25,000 children in Wayne County, Wayne County Commission announced Thursday. The Commission approved the donation from Ballmer Giving LLC of Bellevue, Washington. The other half of the donation will be allocated toward the Save-A-Life Program for convalescent plasma donation as a treatment for COVID-19. This is a wonderful gift and we are very grateful to receive it, Commission Chair Alisha Bell said in a news release. According to the release, Ballmer Giving LLC was created by Steve Ballmer, who is the former Microsoft CEO and current Los Angeles Clipper owner.

Hamtramck Stadium will receive a facelift worth nearly $50,000 through a National Park Service grant approved on Thursday by the Wayne County Commission. Hamtramck Stadium is a historic ballpark where baseball Hall of Fame members Turkey Stearnes, Josh Gibson and Satchel Paige and many other Negro League legends once played. The grant involves no county money and is provided through the park services African American Civil Rights of the 20th Century grant program. The stadium was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2012. The Friends of Hamtramck Stadium, a local organization, has formed to help finance additional renovations at the site.

While the old prison will need some serious work to turn it into a jail it is the transition would appear workable. But also inside this building was a truckload of Wayne County property already unloaded. What we saw out at Mound Road tells us a couple of things. So the only real questions left to answer in this incredible new jail saga is will anyone fill one of the Mound Road jail cells as a result of the fraudulent disaster it became?
