A very chilly start to the weekend with single digit temperatures outside your door and a pesky breeze keeping wind chills between 5F and -5F.

There doesn’t appear to be much optimism for sunshine later today with these morning clouds over Metro Detroit, but the clouds are keeping temperatures in the low 30s. Clearer skies would permit some cooler 20s. Good Friday morning! So let’s chalk up a win for the clouds this morning because they are not leaking any more of that wintry mix. Watch out for some slippery spots after last night’s light rain and snow and Metro Detroit surface temps close to freezing. That goes for that walk to work or simply to your car as the sidewalks and streets may have secret slick spots. Other than that, we’re doing just fine heading into the weekend.

We’re still tracking some showers and thunderstorms on the radar this morning, but not nearly the coverage we had late last night with thunderstorms that are producing a lot of lightning and heavy rainfall as well with all the moisture around.

Good Friday morning!  Conditions are fairly quiet around Metro Detroit with temps in the lower 30s falling slowly into the upper 20s this morning under cloudy skies and a few flakes and flurries. A cold front is pushing through as we speak which will keep those temps from moving very much through the day and that front will spark a few flakes and flurries, but the roads are in good shape and should stay that way even with isolated flurries and light snow chances. Lake effect snow showers in the Thumb will cause some tricky travel on the shorelines of Lake Huron this morning but most of Metro Detroit will only see remnants of that in the form of mainly flurries.

It’s a big weekend at the box office and that’s mostly all thanks to one movie that could finally be a blockbuster for theaters across the nation. Movie reviewer Greg Russell joined host Jason Carr to talk about it and share some other new movies streaming today.

In a recently published blog post American singer Kid Rock announced the cancelation of Billy Bob’s concerts this weekend as a result of band members catching COVID-19.

Highs may approach 50 degrees (10 degrees Celsius) on Tuesday and Wednesday, then drop back into the mid 40s (7 degrees Celsius) on Thursday.

DETROIT – Clear skies and light wind overnight have allowed temperatures to fall to near 20 degrees (-7 degrees Celsius) early this Friday morning. Mostly clear Saturday night, with lows near 20 degrees (-7 degrees Celsius). Light rain showers now appear more likely on Wednesday than they did yesterday, but we’ll still see highs get close to 60 degrees (15 degrees Celsius). Showers are likely Thursday and Friday, with highs in the mid 50s (13 degrees Celsius) on Thursday, and near 50 degrees (10 degrees Celsius) on Friday. The cooling trend continues into next weekend, as highs settle back into the mid 40s (7 to 8 degrees Celsius).

DETROIT – As expected, Thursday night snow has been mostly inconsequential across the area. Light snow will develop for some of us, especially south, late at night. If you read my weather article yesterday, I described how our early week storm is now a large upper level storm system roughly over James Bay. Since we are on the back side of that circulations, lots of upper level disturbances are rolling down the jet stream like roller coast cars on a track. Highs today in the upper 30s (4 degrees Celsius) north to low 40s (5 degrees Celsius) south. Lows in the mid-to-upper 20s (-3 to -2 degrees Celsius). Highs in the mid 30s (2 degrees Celsius).

DETROIT – Monday’s storm has now wound up into a big upper level low over Quebec, which means that some upper level disturbances are swinging down across the Great Lakes on the backside of the huge circulation. Highs in the low 40s (6 degrees Celsius), with a southwest wind at 10 to 18 mph. The next upper level disturbance drops down Thursday night into Friday morning. Highs near 40 degrees (4 to 5 degrees Celsius). Becoming partly cloudy overnight Friday night, with lows in the mid to upper 20s (-3 to 2 degrees Celsius).

Our Friday will feature a ton of sun, with afternoon highs reaching the upper 60s (20 degrees Celsius). We’ll have plenty of sunshine both days, with highs in the upper 60s (20 degrees Celsius), and overnight lows in the mid 40s (8 degrees Celsius). Mostly clear Monday night, with lows in the mid 50s (14 degrees Celsius). As long as we keep at least partly cloudy skies Tuesday, we shouldn’t have much trouble getting to near 70 degrees (21 degrees Celsius). Showers develop Tuesday night, with lows in the low to mid 50s (11 to 12 degrees Celsius).

DETROIT – We are starting our Finally Friday with lots of clouds and some lake effect rain showers near Lake Huron. Highs will struggle mightily today, as temps hold nearly steady in the low to mid 40s (5 to 7 degrees Celsius). Temperatures will fall into the mid 40s (7 degrees Celsius) during the early evening, so a couple of layers under the costume works well. We start the day with rain showers and temps in the mid 40s (7 to 8 degrees Celsius). Highs will warm into the mid 50s (12 degrees Celsius) on Tuesday, and then potentially be at or a little above 60 degrees (16 degrees Celsius) through the weekend!

Highs for the weekend will barely get to 50 degrees, almost ten degrees below normal for late October. We should see a decent amount of sunshine on the dry days too. Partly cloudy skies will be the rule through the day with dry conditions expected through the night on the 31st.

Once the front passes by, temperatures will crash -- we’ll be in the upper 30s (4 degrees Celsius) by Saturday morning. Increasing clouds Saturday night, with lows in the mid 30s (1 to 2 degrees Celsius). Highs near 50 degrees (10 degrees Celsius). The first one, however will bring some showers to our area on Monday, with highs near 50 degrees (10 degrees Celsius). Highs, however, will remain only near 50 degrees (10 degrees Celsius), with lows in the 30s (1 to 3 degrees Celsius).

Abundant sunshine on our Finally Friday combined with a strengthening south wind this afternoon will push highs into the mid 70s (25 degrees Celsius), with upper 70s possible (26 degrees Celsius) near the state line! Much milder lows in the low 60s (16 degrees Celsius). Partly cloudy Saturday night, with lows in the upper 40s to near 50 degrees (9 to 10 degrees Celsius). Mostly cloudy Sunday night, with lows in the mid 50s (12 to 13 degrees Celsius). Highs in the low 70s (22 degrees Celsius).

The one exception will be in the Thumb, where Lake Huron moisture will give you more cloud cover and some scattered showers. The third ingredient is cloud cover, and that’s the question mark. Enough high resolution models bring in some of this cloud cover – which acts as a blanket and holds some heat in - that I think many of us won’t see frost. Our Urban Heat Island has the lowest risk, as temps there will only drop into the upper 30s (4 degrees Celsius). Next weekMonday looks great, with mostly sunny skies and highs near 60 degrees (15 to 16 degrees Celsius).

DETROIT – Our skies should remain mostly sunny through most of the day with highs around 80°F and light winds S 5-10 mph. It will be rain free once again, and although we could use the rain, we should see dry weather through the weekend. The warmest day of the week will be Saturday around Metro Detroit and it’s our first weekend of Fall. The cloud cover will be the variable, and right now it looks like partly cloudy skies around here to start your weekend. So Sunday will be partly cloudy to partly sunny and then overcast into the afternoon with highs in the upper 70s to near 80°F.

If you are out and about today, you may be startled, perhaps frightened at first, to see a large, circular yellow object in the sky. Highs in the upper 60s (20 to 21 degrees Celsius) will so much better than it did during the week with all of that cloud cover. Partly cloudy Friday night (we’ll probably start the night mostly moony, then see some passing clouds overnight). Partly cloudy skies Saturday morning will be replaced by incoming cloud cover by afternoon. Showers and thunderstorms are likely Saturday night ahead of the approaching cold front and a very dynamic accompanying upper level system.

It was a wet and stormy start for many of you around Metro Detroit with a cold front that just stalled out as a stationary front right over the heart of SE Lower Michigan. We are under a Slight Risk for Severe Storms today, and that will be most likely through the late afternoon and evening. We will have this stationary front wandering about Metro Detroit through the day and more moisture moving up from the south keeping our rain and thunderstorm chances alive pretty much all day. We will see a carbon copy of a day Monday around Metro Detroit highlighted again by great sleeping weather. We will see some showers and storms on Wednesday into Thursday, and we will keep you posted as we get closer.

DETROIT After a fantastic Saturday -- warmth without the humidity -- today is going to feel quite a bit different. The higher heat and humidity means that we could see a couple of showers or thunderstorms this afternoon. Lows near 70 degrees (21 degrees Celsius). Highs near 90 degrees (32 degrees Celsius), with the humidity making it feel like mid 90s (34 degrees Celsius). Muggy lows again near 70 degrees (21 degrees Celsius).

Because the closer the dew point is to the actual air temperature, the more humid it is. Highs in the low 90s (32 degrees Celsius), with the humidity making it feel like mid 90s (34 degrees Celsius). Monday night remains oppressively muggy, with lows again only in the low 70s (21 to 22 degrees Celsius). Daytime highs in the mid 80s (30 degrees Celsius) Saturday to possibly upper 80s (31 degrees Celsius) on Sunday.

Humid highs should reach the upper 80s to near 90 degrees (31 to 32 degrees Celsius). It will be oppressively muggy Sunday night, with it taking all night long just to get temperatures to fall near 70 degrees (21 degrees Celsius). Steamy lows Monday night will be near 70 degrees (21 degrees Celsius). Highs in the mid 80s (30 degrees Celsius). Highs should generally remain in the mid 80s (29 to 30 degrees Celsius), with overnight lows in the mid 60s (18 to 19 degrees Celsius).

Lows in the mid 60s (18 degrees Celsius) is certainly warmer than the past several nights, but not oppressive (wait -- its coming). Lows near 70 degrees (21 degrees Celsius). Highs near 90 degrees (32 degrees Celsius), with the humidity making it feel like mid 90s (34 degrees Celsius). Youll also notice drier air coming in as well, with highs in the mid 80s (30 degrees Celsius). Highs Tuesday through Friday look very stableholding in the mid 80s (29 to 30 degrees Celsius), with overnight lows in the mid 60s (18 degrees Celsius).

Hot Weekend AheadThis weekend will be a good one for the lake, pool, or running through the backyard sprinkler! Itll be a steamy day, with highs in the mid to upper 80s (30 to 31 degrees Celsius). There is a small shower chance Wednesday afternoon but, aside from that, it appears well be dry from Tuesday through the upcoming weekend.

We'll have a ton of sun today, with highs reaching the upper 80s (31 degrees Celsius). Mostly sunny on Saturday, with highs in the upper 70s to near 80 degrees (26 to 27 degrees Celsius).
