The construction was scheduled to begin Tuesday but has been postponed one week due to rainy weather.

The Michigan Department of Transportation says it is spending about $1.6 million to repair the concrete on the following sections of Telegraph Road:

-- US-24 (Telegraph Road) just north and south of Maple Road

-- Northbound US-24 (Telegraph Road) from Long Lake Road to US-24 Business Route (BR) (Square Lake Road)

-- Southbound US-24 (Telegraph Road) from Orchard Lake Road to Long Lake Road

The construction gets underway Tuesday and is expected to last until September.

How this will impact traffic:

There will be two lanes open in each direction in each work zone between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. beginning Tuesday, April 7 (delayed until the following week).

Beginning Wednesday, April 15, US-24 (Telegraph Road) will be reduced to one lane weeknights 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. and weekends 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, depending on the location of work being performed.

US-24 BR (Square Lake Road) will be reduced to one or two lanes at US-24 (Telegraph Road) during multiple weekends while crews perform repairs near the intersection.

Moreover, MDOT says drivers should expect intermittent lane closures until the construction is complete.
