A screwdriver struck a 64-year-old driver during a rollover crash in Wayne County. (WDIV)

WAYNE COUNTY, Mich. – A screwdriver struck a 64-year-old driver during a rollover crash in Wayne County.

The incident occurred Friday (Dec. 8) at 11 a.m. when the 64-year-old from Tennessee was traveling in the right lane and drifted to the right shoulder, crashing into the concrete barrier and causing the truck to roll over.

Officials say the driver was not wearing a seatbelt.

The 64-year-old has been transported to a Metro Detroit hospital. Their condition is unknown.

“The use of seatbelts will save your life,” said F/Lt. Mike Shaw. “Not only do they protect you when the airbags deploy, they will keep you behind the wheel in a rollover. As soon as you start your vehicle, fasten your seatbelt.”
