Woman killed, 2 drivers injured in crash at major intersection near Ann Arbor

PITTSFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A woman was killed and both drivers were injured when an SUV struck a car that was trying to turn left at a major intersection near Ann Arbor.

The crash happened at 7:54 p.m. Monday, March 4, 2024, at the intersection of Packard and Carpenter roads in Pittsfield Township, right near the border of Ann Arbor.

Officials said a 2012 Scion TC was turning left onto southbound Carpenter Road when it was struck on the front passenger side by a 2010 Ford Escape, which was heading east on Packard Road.

A woman in the front passenger seat of the Scion was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The 35-year-old Ann Arbor man driving the Scion was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition.

The 22-year-old Ypsilanti man driving the Escape was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police shut down the intersection of Carpenter and Packard roads for several hours while they investigated the crash.
