MELVINDALE, Mich. – Part of Schaefer Highway was closed Downriver on Monday morning due to an unknown issue.
On Monday, May 13, Schaefer Highway was closed between I-75 and Dix Highway in the Melvindale area, Wayne County officials said. The roadway was closed late Sunday afternoon, and the closure was to last into Monday morning, at least.
Northbound and southbound I-75 exits onto Schaefer Highway were also closed.
It was not immediately clear what was causing the closure, or how long it would last.
