These Metro Detroit road, lane closures may impact weekend travel plans

DETROIT – With nice weather comes not-so-nice traffic.

There are several Michigan Department of Transportation projects this weekend that could impact your weekend plans.

Here’s a list of MDOT’s weekend work starting Friday, May 31:

Wayne County:

Jefferson Avenue -- Eastbound will be closed between Griswold and Bates streets and westbound will be closed between Griswold and Rivard streets until Thursday, June 6.

I-75 -- Southbound I-75 will have only two lanes open between Clark Street and Livernoise Avenue from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, June 1.

I-96 -- Eastbound will have two lanes between Ecorse and Telegraph roads from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, May 31 and Monday, June 3.

I-275 -- Northbound will have one lane open between Ecorse and Palmer roads starting 6 a.m. Monday, June 3.

I-375 -- Southbound will only have one lane open to access the RenCen tunnel between Larned Street and Beaubien Boulevard.

M-10 (Lodge Freeway) -- Southbound lanes will be closed between Larned Street and West Jefferson Avenue until Thursday, June 6.

M-39 (Southfield Freeway) -- The ramps from northbound M-39 to Van Born Road and both directions of I-94 will be closed from 8 p.m. Friday, May 31, to 5 a.m. Monday, June 3.

US-12 (Michigan Avenue) -- The eastbound lanes of US-12 will have three lanes open from Lotz to Hannan roads 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, May 31.

US-24 (Telegraph Road) -- One southbound lane will open at 8 Mile Road from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, June 1.

Macomb County:

I-94 -- There will be one westbound lane open at 23 Mile Road and the eastbound ramp to 23 Mile Road will be closed from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday.

M-29 (23 Mile Road) -- The westbound ramp to westbound I-94 will be closed from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday (June 1 and 2).

M-53 (Van Dyke Avenue) -- Northbound lanes will be closed from 9 p.m. Friday, May 31, to 1 p.m. Monday, June 3.

Oakland County:

I-75 -- One southbound lane will be open intermittently from Big Beaver to Rochester roads from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. every day.

I-96 -- Only one eastbound lane will be open between Milford and Wixom roads from 5 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 1.

M-5 (Grand River Avenue) -- Grand River Avenue will be closed between Farmington Road and Grove Street from 5 p.m. Friday, May 31, to 2 p.m. Sunday, June 2.

M-59 -- Starting 6 a.m. Monday, June 3, only one westbound lane will be open between Duck Lake and Milford roads.
