Tecumseh couple killed, 4 others injured in Lenawee County crash

DETROIT – Two people were killed and four people were injured but are expected to recover in a Lenawee County crash.

Michigan State Police troopers responded to reports of a crash at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 24, 2024, in the area of East Monroe Road near Matthews Highway in Tecumseh Township.

Police said the investigation indicates that a red Ford Taurus was eastbound on East Monroe Road when it was struck by a blue Chevrolet Equinox, which was westbound.

A married couple from Tecumseh were in the Chevrolet, and were killed in the crash. They have been identified as an 85-year-old man and an 82-year-old woman.

There were four people from Adrian in the Ford, all were severely injured but are expected to recover. They have been identified as a 76-year-old man, a 74-year-old woman, a 26-year-old woman, and a 25-year-old man.

Police said alcohol or speed do not appear to be factors in the crash. The crash is still under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact Michigan State Police trooper Justin Ott at 734-242-3500.
