New warning sign for Alzheimer’s: Poor financial decisions
A new study suggests that poor financial decisions in older adults could be an early warning sign of Alzheimer's disease. Research indicates that thinning in the entorhinal cortex, a brain region associated with imagining future outcomes and assessing value, may lead to financial vulnerability even in those who test cognitively normal. While not all individuals with Alzheimer's will make poor financial choices, and vice versa, this finding could prompt earlier detection and intervention for those at risk.
