High temps grip Metro Detroit, schools adjust schedules

Due to extreme heat, Detroit Public Schools Community District (DPSCD) students experienced early dismissals for a second consecutive day. After school activities were left to the discretion of individual schools and coaches, with some opting to slow down activities or move them indoors. Livonia Schools monitored temperatures closely, canceling outdoor activities when the heat index reached 104 degrees or higher. They either postponed activities, moved them indoors, or canceled them entirely.
