Detroit secures $346M in disaster funds

Basement flooding is a recurring problem in Metro Detroit, exacerbated by severe weather and aging infrastructure. In response to historic flooding in August 2023, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has allocated nearly $347 million to the city. This funding aims to repair clogged and collapsed sewers, as well as to support new affordable housing projects designed to withstand future flood events.
