Michigan Child Welfare fails to review 150 deaths
A recent report highlights failures in Michigan's child welfare system, revealing that the state did not review 150 child deaths over an 18-month period. The 28-page performance report aims to assess and enhance the safety of children in Michigan, with the Office of Family Advocate conducting these reviews. These reviews are mandated when a child dies while in an open foster care case, within six months of such a case, if Children's Protective Services were involved, or if requested by top officials in Michigan Health and Human Services.
