Livonia burger joint closes after early morning fire

Bates’ Burgers in Livonia is temporarily closed following a fire that occurred at 3 a.m. on April 29, causing smoke damage and burning the grill. The owner expressed gratitude for the quick response from Livonia firefighters and a bystander who reported the fire. While the restaurant may soon resume serving coneys and shakes, burgers will be unavailable until the grill is repaired or replaced. The reopening timeline depends on the insurance assessment, and updates will be posted on their Facebook page. Bates’ is a family-owned business with a long-standing presence since 1959, with locations in Livonia and Farmington Hills.
