Oakland County mom accused of abandoning kids for years bound over for trial
Kelli Bryant, a 34-year-old mother from Pontiac, faces trial for first-degree child abuse and welfare fraud after authorities discovered her three children, aged 12 to 15, living alone in squalid conditions. During a preliminary examination, witnesses, including a responding deputy and a pediatrician, testified about the children's living environment, health issues, and Bryant's actions, which included instructing her children to hide from police and admitting to prioritizing her own needs over their welfare. Despite the defense's arguments that the children were not physically or mentally harmed, the judge ruled there was sufficient evidence for Bryant to stand trial.
