Tracking severe thunderstorms Friday night in metro Detroit

Temps near 70°F overnight

DETROIT – Scattered showers and storms diminish during a warm Friday evening.

A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for Lenawee County until 10:45

The severe thunderstorm warning issued for Oakland County was cancelled.

Isolated thunderstorms during the first half of the weekend will not stop the mercury from rising to new heights; hotter readings.

Friday evening will have scattered showers and thunderstorms throughout Detroit and southeast Michigan. After dinnertime and sunset, flashes of lightning become less numerous and rainfall dissipates with temperatures in the upper and middle 70s.

Friday night will be partly cloudy and warm with lows near 70 degrees in the city and in the 60s in Detroit's suburbs. Late night Dream Cruisers will have a drier Woodward Avenue, and they can put the top down.

Saturday will be partly sunny as some of the hottest air of the month arrives. Highs will be in the upper 80s. The atmosphere will remain a bit unstable, and isolated showers and thunderstorms are possible between 3pm and 8pm ET. Fortunately, not everyone gets wet and the day will not be a wash-out.

Sunday's thermometer readings will be even higher with sunnier skies. Highs reach 90 degrees in the afternoon under mostly sunny skies.

Motown's next cold front arrives Monday. Skies will be partly sunny with a chance of showers and thunderstorms. Highs will be in the middle 80s. Some storms will have heavy downpours, frequently lightning and gusty winds.

Tuesday and Wednesday will be calmer. Both days will have abundant sunshine and highs near 80°F or more. Showers and thunderstorms are possible, again, Thursday and Friday; highs near 85°F.
