DETROIT – Lake-effect snow showers will be drying out this evening, but we do have a few more shots at snow in the next 10 days and temperatures still have farther to drop before we get to the coldest air of the season.
Tonight, snow showers will be around in spots through the evening. Then we’ll be dry and mostly cloudy overnight. Temperatures will drop to around 10 degrees by daybreak and wind chills will be below zero for parts of the night.
Thursday, we’ll get a break from the flakes. Skies will be mainly cloudy, but a few peeks of sunshine will show up at times. Temps again will rise to the low 20s.Â
Snow returns on Friday as a cold front rolls through. Most of it will fall around midday with some minor accumulations of around an inch. Daytime highs will be in the mid 20s. Behind that front, the real chill sets in. In fact our weekend lows will be the coldest temperatures we’ve had to endure all winter! Â
Saturday morning will start out around 8 degrees and only warm into the mid teens. It will be mostly cloudy and dry. Sunday will also be snow-free and feature limited sunshine. After starting out with temperatures barely above zero, highs will hit 20 in the afternoon. All very appropriate for the Meridian Winter Blast in downtown Detroit.
Temperatures will be warmer next week, even back above freezing, but snow chances will be back too. Check the 10 Day Forecast for more.
