Metro Detroit weather: Rain, rain has gone away

Part of the weekend ahead looks nice

No description found

DETROIT – Today’s rain has moved out right on schedule early this afternoon (with the final small patch of rain in Sanilac County the last of it), and some of us have even seen some sunshine putting a nice finishing touch on what has, otherwise, been a dreary couple of days.

Skies will gradually become mostly clear tonight, with lows generally in the upper 30s (that’s 4° Celsius for our Canadian friends) in the heart of the area, and mid-30s (2° Celsius) in the rural areas.  Some patchy frost is possible in the Thumb, but most of us won’t have to worry about that.  Light northeast wind.

Mostly sunny to start our Saturday, but clouds will increase from south to north. At first, it’ll be those high, thin cirrus clouds creating a pretty sky, but those will start to thicken during the afternoon and most of us will be mostly cloudy by late afternoon. Most of us will also remain dry through late afternoon, but those of you in Lenawee and Monroe Counties could possibly see some rain move in as early as between 4 and 6 p.m. Rain then overspreads the area Saturday evening -- keep this in mind if you have plans. Highs in the upper 50s (15° Celsius), with an east wind at 7 to 12 mph.

To help you plan your Saturday, I am providing below my RPM model output.  Keep in mind that this is from a computer model…if things speed up or slow down a bit, then that impacts the timing of your increasing clouds and the approaching rain.  But this should be a pretty good general guide for you.  Weekends are important to you and me, and, like you, I have stuff to get done outside tomorrow.

I hope this helps:

Saturday’s sunrise is at 6:30 a.m., and Saturday’s sunset is at 8:32 p.m.

Rain increases Saturday night, and we could potentially see between one-half inch and one inch of rain. Lows in the mid 40s (7° Celsius).

Showers on Sunday will be most prevalent in the morning -- I think we’ll see a trend toward diminishing rain by early to mid afternoon.  Highs in the mid 50s (13° Celsius).

Becoming partly cloudy Sunday night, with lows near 40° (5° Celsius).

Partly cloudy on Monday, with highs in the low 60s (16° Celsius).

Partly cloudy Monday night, with lows in the low 40s (6° Celsius).

Partly cloudy on Tuesday, with highs in the upper 60s (20° Celsius).

Partly cloudy Tuesday night, with lows in the upper 40s (9° Celsius).

Partly cloudy on Wednesday, although a cold front will cross the area at some point and it’ll become mostly cloudy near the front – along with some showers possible as well.  Highs will greatly depend upon the front’s timing.

Let’s say that the front is crossing the area midday -- those of you north of the front will probably see highs only in the upper 50s (15° Celsius), while those of you farther south ahead of the front make it into the mid to upper 60s (19° Celsius).
