Full severe weather forecast

Severe Weather Alert for SE Lower Michigan Friday, mainly for this afternoon and evening hours today.

Most of the midday is dry and warming into record territory again as a warm front moves in. This front may produce a few scattered showers during the day but it won’t be widespread.

Look for cloudy and breezy conditions through about 4 p.m. with highs in the mid to upper 60s flirting with 70 degrees.

Afternoon/evening

The old Detroit High Temp record is 59 degrees set back in 1976. The ingredients for severe weather are much more in play late afternoon and this evening. We will see a line of storms form ahead of a cold front and that could produce damaging wind, dangerous lightning, heavy downpours with hail, and possibly a few isolated tornadoes. Please, keep an eye to the sky late in the day today.

We will cool things down considerably on Saturday with morning rain and snow showers changing to mainly light snow showers with gusty winds. Mostly cloudy tomorrow with temps in the low 40s falling into the 30s and winds W 10-25 mph.

Sunday brings a little bit of sunshine with temps falling through the 30s and it will still be a bit breezy. This means a few scattered lake effect snow showers cannot be ruled out.  To stay ahead of today’s storm threat, take the radar, warnings, and weather with you with the Local4Casters app.
