Texas flooding: How you can help

As the nation turns its attention to the devastating flooding in Texas as Tropical Storm Harvey won't let up, there are ways you can help.

The American Red Cross said it is helping the people affected by Hurricane Harvey in Texas and all across the Gulf coast. Shelters are open, truck loads of supplies are being distributed and volunteers in place.

All Hands Volunteers

All Hands Volunteers describes themselves as "a US-based, 501(c)3 non-profit organization that addresses the immediate and long-term needs of communities impacted by natural disasters by engaging and leveraging volunteers, partner organizations and local communities."

The non profit said it has a disaster response team in position for Harvey.

Habitat for Humanity Disaster Response

Habitat for Humanity has a specific disaster response team which the organization says focuses on: 

  • Housing needs arising from natural disasters and emergency conflicts, including sustainable shelter and housing solutions.
  • Education, training and partnership solutions to those in need of our relief services.
  • Expertise in technical information, program design and implementation, and disaster response policies, protocols and procedures.
  • Preventative support and information for disaster-prone areas.
  • Year-round preparedness efforts to ensure we are ready when something happens.

Americares has a response team deployed for Texas flooding.
