Metro Detroit weather: Sunny forecast as rain holds off until weekend

Temperatures hover around mid-60s

DETROIT – When Monday starts this nice, are we setting ourselves up for a big fall (no pun intended)?

Skies will remain mostly clear Monday night. That, combined with light winds, will take most of us into the 40s. But there will be some North Zone spots that briefly touch the upper 30s. Our 4ZONE page has all the numbers. But at least we'll escape the frost. West Michigan will not, though.

Daytime hours over the next three days look pretty much the same. Highs will reach the mid-60s to 70 degrees, and those numbers will come with mostly sunny skies.

We'll reach our heat peak Friday for the next 10 days. Expect highs in the low to mid-70s. We'll see a bit more cloud cover mixed in with the sunshine.

Rain will finally return Saturday morning before leaving us mostly dry for the remainder of the weekend. A shower isn't out of the question Sunday in our West and North zones, closer to a low pressure center in northern lower Michigan. Temperatures will dip low enough up north to give parts of the lower peninsula a shot at light snow. It won't last past lunch, if it sticks to anything.

The big change for us will be in the temperature department this weekend. Highs will drop from the 70s Friday to the 50s starting Saturday. Morning lows next week in many spots will be in the 30s!
