Metro Detroit weather: What to expect Friday, this weekend

A wind chilly start to your Friday, and it’s not that windy.

The real story is the cold air in place as we start with temps in the low 20s and a light breeze keeping wind chills in the teens as you head out now through 8 or 9 a.m. We start with sunshine on your Friday and a few more clouds later this afternoon becoming partly cloudy with highs in the upper 30s feeling colder all day.

The winds NW will become WSW later in the day 5-12 mph and that’s just enough wind to keep wind chills in the 20s through lunch and a little warmer this afternoon with more cloud cover but it’s a dry day Friday.

Saturday forecast

Saturday will start with some hazy or milky morning sunshine as lows again dip into to the lower 20s and it won’t take much of a breeze to keep wind chills in the teens tomorrow morning. Saturday will be a day we see an increase in clouds mid morning through the afternoon as highs barely get into the low 40s around Metro Detroit. Skies become overcast but the wet weather stays away.

There is a chance for some light rain and snow after 6 or 7 p.m. tomorrow evening, but most of the moisture is riding north of us into Northern Lower Michigan with snow likely up there. So, some light wintry mix briefly moves in late tomorrow and is gone in the early morning hours of Sunday.

Sunday forecast

Sunday will be mostly cloudy but mostly dry with morning lows in the low to mid 30s and highs in the mid 40s. It will be breezy both weekend days but good stuff for some of that yard work and leaf raking.

Monday is Veteran’s Day and we do expect a little more wet weather then. It should be in the form of snow showers as temps start to drop again early next week. Look for scattered snow coming and going with temps in the upper 20s early and then low to mid 30s in the afternoon. We may see some minor accumulation in a few spots Monday, and some light snow lingers into early Tuesday before it dries out for most of the day.

It’s cold all of next week with temps mainly in the teens to low 20s early, and highs in the low to mid 30s. You can get your 7-Day Forecast and track our next storm chances with our Local4Casters app.
