Snow showers are racing through Metro Detroit this Thursday morning leaving a coating or a little more in some areas, and definitely keeping the roads on the slick side as you head out and about.
The snow wraps up by 7 or 8 a.m., and the clouds stick around all day with temps in the mid 20s this morning warming into the mid 30s this afternoon. Believe it or not, it will actually feel quite mild out there compared to the last couple of January-like days around here although wind chills will be in the low to mid 20s most of the day with winds SW 5-12 mph. With clouds sticking around tonight, we should see manageable numbers again overnight.
Friday forecast
Friday will be a little warmer starting with morning temps in the mid 20s with clouds beginning to break up at least a little. That means we’ll see a nice blend of sun and clouds through the afternoon with highs near 40°F but most of us end up in the upper 30s.
There’s a dry cold front sweeping across the Great Lakes Region late Friday which sets us up for a cool Saturday. Any hunters heading north will experience mainly 20s to low 30s Friday through the weekend with mostly dry conditions other than some scattered snow showers on Sunday morning/midday.
Weekend forecast
It’s going to be cold in Ann Arbor Saturday for MSU vs. UM at noon. Prepare for temps 20s for tailgating and wind chills that may dip into the teens at times, but the sunshine will look nicer than it feels through the afternoon. Temps will be near 30°F for the noon kickoff and then stay in the lower 30s with more Saturday sunshine around Metro Detroit. Sunday should stay dry as we head back into the mid and upper 30s, but some light snow is possible late in the day or into the evening.
Next week
It looks more likely for some Monday morning flakes turning to a wintry mix which may include some freezing rain or ice. We will keep a close eye on this for you and keep you posted right here and on Local 4 News as we get closer.
