Metro Detroit weather: A fall feeling for a while

Sunshine, highs in 60s Monday

DETROITGood Monday morning!

Skies are clear and temps have been cooling into the upper 30s to low 40s around most of Metro Detroit. Yes, it crisp, but these temps are right where we should be this time of the day at this time of year. We have been spoiled with a few weeks of mild mornings, but we have more chilly ones ahead this week.

Today’s sunrise was at 7:50 a.m.

Clear skies may mean cool overnights, but clear skies are also a great way to quickly warm out of that cool start.

We will have wall-to-wall sunshine all day Monday, with highs getting into the mid 60s, which is a little warmer than average. That trend will continue for the next few days.

Light winds will move WNW at 5-10 mph.

Get ready for another cool night with clear skies and dropping temps as we move into Tuesday.

Today’s sunset is at 6:46 p.m.

Sunny days ahead of rainy Thursday

Your Tuesday morning will start in the lower-to-mid 40s again, and some suburbs will be flirting with the 30s under clear skies. One subtle difference in the forecast tomorrow is a shift in the winds from the northwest to southwest, helping us warm just a little more.

So, Tuesday afternoon will be mostly sunny with highs in the upper 60s for some, while more of us will feel low 70s. Winds will move WSW at 5-12 mph, gusting at 15-20 mph.

The warmer our days get, the less chilly it will become overnight, so we will see mid-to-upper 40s Wednesday morning under mostly clear skies. Then, our sunshine will turn to mid and high clouds through Wednesday afternoon, and those clouds will determine our high temps based on their timing. If we can keep the clouds clear for the first half of the afternoon, we have another shot at 70 degrees Wednesday, but we may fall just shy of that.

The clouds are ahead of a rainmaker that is coming our way early Thursday. We will wake up to rain showers Thursday morning with wet weather on and off through the afternoon. Highs will only reach the mid 60s, with winds moving SE at 10-20 mph, making it a rough day of falling rain drops and lots of leaves.

The showers should cut off Friday morning, but the cold front that brought the rain will cool us down. Highs will only be in the mid 50s Friday, and Saturday, with mostly dry conditions.
