DETROIT – Good Wednesday afternoon!
Today will be warm, with highs expected to get into the upper 50s and low 60s. Warming winds will move SSW at 7-17 mph, gusting at 20-30 mph. That wind might shake your outdoor holiday decorations a bit.
A few very widely scattered rain showers are possible at any time today. Southern warmth and moisture are overspreading across Southeast lower Michigan and Southern Ontario, but rain is more of a miss than a hit into the early afternoon. Our best bet for more steady, heavier showers will be in the late afternoon and into the evening, when a line of rain will move through here ahead of a cold front.
So, expect a slower evening drive with showers tapering off around midnight or just before.
Today’s sunset is at 5:10 p.m.
Cool Thursday with more wet weather
Thursday will be a way different day, and it’s only here in Michigan that we get to enjoy these wild and quick weather changes.
Temps will struggle to get into the upper 30s and low 40s most of the afternoon, and those pesky breezes will move WSW at 8-18 mph, gusting to 28 mph. We will likely see the lake effect machine kicking in and delivering a few light rain and/or snow showers, especially Thursday afternoon, in Southeastern lower Michigan and Southern Ontario.
Chilly weekend, more rain on Sunday
Friday and Saturday will be dry with chilly morning lows in the upper 20s, and afternoon highs in the low to mid 40s.
We will get more sun Friday, yet it will be the coldest day of our weekend with temps in the lower 40s and still a bit breezy.
Saturday will bring more clouds than sun. Highs will be in the mid 40s.
We may flirt with 50 degrees Sunday before our next weather maker. Yes, more rain arrives Sunday afternoon.
Right now, it looks like rain will transition to snow into early Monday morning. Next week looks pretty chilly as we get set for America’s Thanksgiving Parade.
