DETROIT – Good Thursday afternoon!
A few light snow showers will move out of Western lower Michigan today, but not likely until the mid or late afternoon.
Temps will hover around 40 degrees and the winds will move W at 8-18 mph, gusting at 20-30 mph -- and that will activate the lake effect machine. If your plans take you to Western Michigan today, plan on some wintry mix and/or bouts of decent snow bands.
Scattered, light snow showers are possible this afternoon. A little bit of rain is possible, although it should be mainly snow. This will create some slick spots for this evening’s commute, as these cooling and breezy conditions make everything a little more difficult.
Today’s sunset is at 5:09 p.m.
Lunar eclipse; sunny Friday
Skies will begin to clear and cool overnight, and that should allow us to view a partial lunar eclipse from 1 a.m. to 7 a.m. Friday. Check it out!

Friday will feature a clear and brisk morning in the mid-to-upper 20s. Then, we’ll see a nice mix of sun and clouds with highs in the lower 40s. The winds will be lighter, moving WSW at 5-15 mph. It will still feel on the chilly side even with some needed sunshine.
Cloudy weekend with some wet weather
Clouds will be making their way toward Metro Detroit on Saturday. Still, expect morning lows in the upper 20s to low 30s, and highs in the low and mid 40s under mostly cloudy skies before our next wet-weather-maker.
Rain will arrive Sunday, mainly in the late morning into the afternoon.
Next week preview
Cooler air on the back side of the weekend storm will change the moisture to a wintry mix early Monday morning, including the threat for freezing rain. Monday morning will be very messy and possibly dangerous on the roads.
Next week looks pretty chilly as we get set for America’s Thanksgiving Parade.
