DETROIT – Happy Wednesday and May the 4th be with you!
We should see more and more sunshine each hour as get into the early afternoon. Eventually, our skies will become mostly sunny.
Today’s highs will be in the low-to-mid 60s. A decent breeze will move NNE at 7-15 mph, gusting to 20-25 mph at times, and that cooler breeze from the Big Lakes will keep our temps in check today.
Fear not, though, we have some warmer weather ahead just in time for all of our moms out there.
Today may become the pick day of the week to get outside and have some fun or get some work done. Although, our Cinco de Mayo forecast is more bueno than mal.
Today’s sunset is at 8:36 p.m.
Mostly dry Cinco de Mayo
Thursday is Cinco de Mayo, and we are in pretty good shape most of the day with some rain possible late at night.
Some early morning clearing will allow temps to dip down near 40 degrees, with some upper 30s possible in the suburbs of Metro Detroit. Then, sun and wispy high clouds will blend in the morning, with more afternoon clouds filling in ahead of our next rain maker.
We should see highs in the low-to-mid 60s again. The sunshine will be the big variable for our temps, meaning milky sunshine may hang on allowing our temps to hit the mid-to-upper 60s. We cannot bank on that, as all computer model data leads to increasing and thickening clouds -- but a dry day -- all day Thursday.
Wet weather returns
Friday morning will be the beginning of our next wet weather stint.
The air will stay mild, and there is no cold air mixing in with anything frozen or funky. Instead, it’ll be rounds of rain on Friday starting in the early morning.
We likely won’t bust out of the mid and upper 50s for highs due to the clouds and showers. Those showers will become more numerous in the afternoon, with a few rumbles of thunder and lightning likely.
We have no threat for severe weather at this point, but the rain will hinder our ability to get outside and enjoy the Friday afternoon and evening. Showers will linger overnight and into Saturday morning before the skies begin to settle and clear.
Weekend preview
Saturday starts with some showers and cloudy skies with drier conditions moving in by the afternoon. Highs will be in the lower 60s.
Sunday is Mother’s Day, and it looks fabulous! We will see a good deal of sunshine with temps between 65-70 degrees all afternoon, allowing you to do some planting or yard work for mom.
Monday will be well into the 70s, and Tuesday may be our first 80-degree day in a while -- but we also have a chance for scattered showers and storm. Stay tuned.
