Scattered showers expected Wednesday afternoon in Metro Detroit

Rain most likely between 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Wednesday

DETROITGood Wednesday morning, Metro Detroit!

It’s a dry and pleasant start with temps in the low 60s, if you’re outdoors early today. Skies are partly cloudy.

We are tracking radar showing showers and storms still well off to our north and west, which means it’s a dry morning commute for us across SE Michigan and Southern Ontario. Grab the umbrella before you go, though, as showers will be trying to work over our dry air.

Today’s sunrise was at 6:21 a.m.

Our Wednesday shower chances come from a combination of increased moisture moving up from the south, and a cold front moving in from the north.

Skies will go from partly to mostly cloudy throughout the morning into the afternoon. Showers will try to fire up by lunchtime, but the dry air may win round one, keeping Metro Detroit mostly dry midday.

Afternoon highs will be in the low-to-mid 80s.

The afternoon temps, humidity and shower chances will increase, especially after 2 p.m. Scattered rain and thundershowers are expected. No severe weather is expected here, but a few claps of thunder cannot be ruled.

Keep an eye on the Local4Casters App radar if you have plans on being outdoors between 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Tonight’s sunset is at 8:58 p.m.

Less rain than expected Thursday

We are getting better and better computer model data for the end of the week and the start of the Rocket Mortgage Classic at the Detroit Golf Club on Thursday.

Earlier data hinted at a good shot for rain and thundershowers late Thursday morning and early afternoon, but today’s data from the same models is keeping things mostly dry.

We will see a good amount of cloud cover with some nice mid-to-late afternoon clearing with sunshine. Highs will be in the lower 80s with winds moving WSW at 7-17 mph, gusting to 25 mph at times.

A weak cold front will move through Thursday, with a few afternoon showers possible, but that appears less and less likely. We’ll keep you posted.

The weekend weather is going to be like Ron Popeil’s rotisserie oven: set it and forget it.

Mild weekend with cooler temps

Friday morning clouds are possible, without any risk for rain, before we clear out nicely to a mixture of sun and clouds. Cooler air will pump into Pure Michigan all day as highs settle around 80 degrees. Winds will still be a bit gusty, moving WNW at 7-17 mph.

Saturday and Sunday look fantastic with comfortable sleeping weather at night dipping into the 50s to low 60s Friday, Saturday and Sunday mornings.

Saturday afternoon highs will hit the lower 80s with low humidity and more sunshine mixing with some puffy afternoon clouds and no rain.

Sunday will be a touch warmer and more humid, with temps in the mid-80s feeling like the upper 80s under mostly sunny skies. Lather up the sunscreen and stay hydrated all the way through your weekend.

Monday rain and thundershowers increase with upper 80s and muggy air meeting up with another weak cold front in the mid-to-late afternoon.
