Humidity drops for pleasant Friday, weekend across Metro Detroit

Stretch of more comfortable weather to last through the weekend

DETROITHappy Friday!

We are officially in a stretch of “windows open weather!” It’s great sleeping weather, as we have cooled down overnight to temperatures in the upper 50s to low 60s.

We start under partly cloudy skies with a slight breeze. There is a different feel in the air that will be with us all day and beyond.

Today’s sunrise was at 6:23 a.m.

The big difference today is the humidity, which is way down. Skies will start with a nice blend of sun and clouds with a few more afternoon clouds coming and going, leading to high temperatures around 80 degrees.

There is a decent breeze blowing W at 5-15 mph, gusting over 20 mph at times, steering a few batches of afternoon clouds our way with no threat for rain. We are just getting started on a short stretch of comfortable weather as we head into the weekend.

Tonight’s sunset is at 8:56 p.m.

Beautiful, pleasant weekend

Another great sleeping night Friday into Saturday, as most of Metro Detroit will get temps dipping down into the 50s.

We expect tons of sunshine on Saturday and slightly warmer temperatures into the lower 80s. A nice breeze moving NW at 5-13 mph will help us maintain a very pleasant feel on the last weekend of July.

Sunday is the last day of July, starting out with more of the comfy stuff as we awake to temps in the upper 50s to low 60s.

We will see and feel a slight change as we warm and add a touch of humidity, but it’s a very slight change. You may need an extra water bottle if you’re walking around for the final round of the Rocket Mortgage Classic at the Detroit Golf Club. Sunshine will mix with a few more afternoon clouds and highs in the middle 80s feeling a degree or two warmer, which puts an end to our stretch of comfy weather.

No rain is expected throughout the entire weekend.

Kicking off August

Monday is the beginning of August, and we will add another layer of heat and humidity with abundant morning sunshine before skies become partly sunny. Afternoon highs will be in the middle to upper 80s feeling warmer.

Scattered rain and thundershowers become more likely in this kind of environment, which is what we expect to see heading into the late afternoon and evening hours on Monday in Metro Detroit. Scattered showers overnight may become more numerous late Monday and into early Tuesday morning.

Get ready for the heat to crank as we approach 90 degrees and clearing skies Tuesday afternoon. Then, it’s low-to-mid 90s Wednesday and Thursday with air you can wear.
