Here’s what to expect during last weekend of summer in Metro Detroit

Friday highs in low 80s; Saturday highs in upper 80s

DETROIT – Thursday is the last night with temps in the upper 50s as a significant warm-up is on track for the weekend and next week.

Friday

We end the work week with sunshine, a few clouds, and warm temps. Our high Friday will be in the low 80s. Friday night football games start out in the upper 70s, but with sunset at 7:40 p.m., it will get a bit cooler by the end of the third quarter.

If you’re headed to the charity preview, the outdoor portion of the evening will be beautiful with temps in the mid-70s.

Weekend forecast

Saturday, you’ll really notice things heating up with highs in the mid-80s. Partly cloudy and dry to start the weekend.

Sunday will be even warmer with highs in the upper 80s. Put the temps and humidity together, and it will feel like it’s in the 90s. We are watching the chance for a spotty shower late Sunday into Monday morning. The drought monitor came out Thursday, and we could really use the rain.

Most of southeast Michigan remains abnormally dry while a moderate drought is taking place north of I-69.

We are also watching the tropics where Tropical Storm Fiona is headed towards the Leeward Islands.
