DETROIT – Good Tuesday afternoon!
We have one more cold front moving through SE Lower Michigan and Southern Ontario this afternoon, leading to our best bet for some wet weather. The showers today will be lighter and fewer than yesterday, with just plain rain here and there mainly after lunch.
Skies will stay mostly cloudy, and that cool breeze will continue to pump in crisp air from up north. High temperatures won’t make it out of the 50s for most of us later today with an occasional light shower and a biting wind.
We can only hope that Mother Nature will pay us off with some unusually warm weather later in October.
Tonight’s sunset is at 7:22 p.m.
There may be a stray shower or two later tonight but the general theme will be for drier weather late Tuesday into Wednesday.
Settling back in with sunshine
We will try to battle back with sunshine Wednesday, which will be hard to do with a pesky breeze moving NNW at 7-14 mph, creating lake enhanced clouds from north to south.
We will get more and more blue sky by the later afternoon after mainly partly sunny skies all day. High temperatures will be near 60 degrees or slightly warmer if we get more sun sooner.
Thursday’s outlook is much more promising except for these cooler mornings. We will see lows in the 40s all week here in Metro Detroit, with many suburbs waking up flirting with the 30s.
Skies will be bright blue Thursday with tons of sun, lighter winds and high temps into the low and middle 60s. Our average highs for the end of September and early October are around 70 degrees. We have a better chance of reaching average highs on Friday, the last day of September.
Weekend preview
Let’s take an early look into this coming weekend here in Metro Detroit.
The crystal ball is already making life easy on us meteorologists as all computer model data points to more warming and a beautiful blend of sun and clouds. Friday will either bring our highs to 70 degrees or just shy of that in the upper 60s as mostly sunny skies become partly cloudy.
Saturday and Sunday look wonderful, even though we have several days before they get here. The month of October will come in like a lamb with highs in the low-to-middle 70s both Saturday and Sunday with no chances for rain.
We will certainly let you know if anything changes.
