Dry start to the week in Metro Detroit, with another warm-up on the horizon

70s later in the week

DETROITGood Monday morning!

How do you feel after that extra hour of sleep over the weekend?

Most of your devices sort of take care of the actual time automatically, but Daylight Saving Time ended Sunday, so we’ll enjoy earlier sunrises and earlier sunsets.

A weak and dry cool front is moving through early this morning, taking our morning temps from near 50 degrees down into the lower 40s around sunrise. Our skies are clear, which means we have no wet weather to worry about as you begin your morning commute.

Make it a great Monday!

It was a mixed weather bag over the weekend, with a little bit of rain and a lot of wind on Saturday, but we don’t expect any more wet weather around SE Lower Michigan and Southern Ontario until maybe Friday.

We will enjoy pure and bright sunshine all day today with high temperatures only getting into the middle 50s -- that is a good 10 degrees cooler than our Sunday high temps, while still remaining a few degrees above our average highs for early November.

The morning cold front is to blame for the cooler air and the breeze, which will move SW/NW at 5-15 mph, gusting to 20-25 mph at times. The breeze will keep it feeling a few degrees cooler with the best breezes in the late morning through the early afternoon.

Tonight’s sunset is at 5:20 p.m.

We will have a brief surge of clouds Monday night into early Tuesday before the skies clear once again.

Warmer air ahead

Tuesday morning lows will be in the low to middle 30s with patchy frost likely in some of our cooler suburbs. We will likely stay in the middle 50s into the afternoon with mostly sunny skies and a lighter breeze in the afternoon moving ENE at 5-12 mph.

Wednesday brings Metro Detroit another shot of warmer air, which we expect to last a few days, getting us nicely through the middle and end of the work and school week. Skies will start partly cloudy with more and more afternoon sunshine.

Wednesday highs will be in the lower 60s and a light and warmer breeze will move S at 5-12 mph.

Thursday brings another shot at 70 degrees for all of Metro Detroit, with a nice mix of sun and clouds. We should expect a film of high clouds to begin to spread over our area as we head into Friday, which is Veteran’s Day.

Rain chances Friday

Friday is the day when we pay special tribute to the men and women who have served in the U.S. military. We salute you all!

Unfortunately, there is a chance for showers on and off during the day. There is also a chance that this system will be delayed, bringing better rain chances Friday night and/or Saturday morning, so stay tuned.

We expect more 60s on Friday before a stronger cold front drops our temperatures dramatically this coming weekend.

Yes, it gets outright cold with temps only in the 40s on Saturday and even colder on Sunday. We could see some light snow early Saturday before the system clears. As timing is everything, we will keep you posted.
