DETROIT – Good Wednesday morning! It is very tolerable out there while also being cool for anyone heading out and about early on this Hump Day.
We are once again seeing some cloud cover coming and going with more active weather in the middle of the country and parts farther west. Our air is dry, which eliminates the chances for anything leaking from the scattered morning clouds.
Temperatures are not as cool as the last couple of mornings with most of Metro Detroit in the middle 30s to near 40 degrees so, grab a light jacket knowing that you will be able to shed a layer later in the day.
Sunrise is at 7:16 a.m.
Our weather today will be a little bit like yesterday while being different in a very good way. The skies over SE Lower Michigan and Southern Ontario will go from partly cloudy to mostly sunny a lot like we saw on Election Day here, but high temps are really going to take off today.
Instead of lower 50s, we expect highs in the lower 60s with the exception of the Thumb where highs may stick in the upper 50s. The wind is a big difference blowing milder and warmer air up from the south 5-15mph instead of the cooler northern breezes like we’ve had the last couple of days.
Sunset is at 5:18 p.m.
Rest of week
Thursday is perhaps our final step in the warming direction, and that could be a tough pill to swallow because much, much cooler air is on the horizon. So, enjoy an absolute beauty tomorrow with a few more afternoon clouds mixing with a good deal of sunshine with highs in the neighborhood of 70 degrees perhaps for the last time this year.
Friday is still a bit up in the air when it comes to rain chances. A strong cold front will bring severe weather along the Mississippi River on Thursday and will slowly push toward Pure Michigan on Friday.
Hurricane Nicole will shoot into the southeastern U.S. and will stall our cold front keeping rain chances limited during the day. We will see an increase in clouds with highs in the low to mid 60s and better rain chances Friday night into Saturday morning when we could also see a few flakes flying.
This weekend
The weekend will bring a big time change as cooler air arrives to Metro Detroit and a little light wintry mix to get things going Saturday morning. Temperatures will stick in the upper 30s to low 40s with a decent breeze and partly sunny skies at best.
Some computer model data also suggests some spotty and light rain and snow possible early Sunday morning. We will keep you posted but expect another cold one with morning temps in the upper 20s and afternoon highs in the upper 30s with partly sunny skies and a cool breeze.
