Snow, rain, cold temperatures are all part of the weekend forecast; Here’s what to expect

Saturday highs upper 20s; Sunday highs in low 30s

4Warn Weather – A weak clipper system is crossing the area Friday evening and bringing with it some light to moderate snow.

This is a fast mover, so only expecting an inch of fresh accumulation, but enough to make the commute a bit slippery Friday night. It could also be a brief period of freezing rain around M-59 right as the snow is tapering off.

Weekend forecast

Snow ends by around 10 p.m., and we get a brief break before our next system moves in. One thing to mention is that winds will be rather strong at times out of the west, 10-20, with gusts up to 30mph. So expect wind chills to be in the low teens to single digits overnight.

The system that arrives Saturday afternoon is a tricky one. Right now, models are not in agreement with the placement of the low, and as a result, snow totals are somewhat in question. We’ll need one or two more runs to get a better handle on who sees snow and who sees rain tomorrow evening and overnight.

At this point, it looks like the best chance for measurable snow will be north of 1-69 and into the thumb. Those areas could pick up 3-5″ of new accumulation. From M-59 south, snow will begin late Saturday afternoon into the evening. Then overnight, most areas will transition to rain. This will cut down snow totals significantly. More details in the forecast tonight at 11 p.m. on Local 4 News.
