It’s been another nice day across Metro Detroit with lots of sunshine and high temperature soaring into the low 50s for everybody, but we’ve got a little bit of cloud cover that will work into the region through the overnight hours tonight.
We’re going to watch a weak cold front move through the region overnight Sunday and early Monday morning, so expect an increase in cloud cover tonight with skies going mostly cloudy. Temperatures are not as cold overnight tonight as we drop into the lower 30s for most everyone heading into early on Monday morning.
Looking forward to the rest of the week
We’ll start the day on Monday with a little bit of cloud cover, but as high pressure builds back into the region, we will bring more sunshine back into the forecast. Temperatures will be just a few degrees cooler heading into the beginning of the week with ties into the upper 40s to near 50°.
We keep the sunshine in early on Tuesday but expect the clouds to increase into the afternoon. High temperatures remaining into the upper 40s to near 50° by Tuesday afternoon.
The winds will be breezy for the first few days of the week before becoming much more gusty heading into Wednesday, then remaining on the breezy side of things as we go from Thursday and into Friday. Winds will gust as high as 20 to 25 MPH Monday and Tuesday, with gusts as high as 35 to 40 MPH on Wednesday with our low-pressure system moving after the north and east. With our secondary low and cold front moving in for the end of the week, we will keep the breezy winds gusting upwards of 20 to 25 MPH into the forecast for Thursday and Friday
Those gusty winds come with rain as well, expect rain showers for most of our Wednesdays as our first low-pressure system works off to the east. High temperatures heading for the low 60s by Wednesday afternoon, but as of right now we’re not looking at any record-setting high temperatures for the middle of the week.
The bigger dose of rainfall for the region moves in Thursday and into early Friday morning. Metro Detroit will start the day with cloud cover on Thursday before the rain moves in Thursday afternoon into Thursday evening. The latest models are suggesting the area of low pressure tracking a little more off to the east, which would bring some colder air into the region, and some of our northern communities may see a little more of a wintry variety for weather rather than rain. We will keep an eye on this.
For Metro Detroit, right now we’re keeping this forecast with rain changing over to a wintry mix lake, and the ending of some snow showers for the end of the week on Friday. High temperatures heading for the upper 50s on Thursday, will drop by at least 20 to 25° to right around the freezing mark in the lower 30s by Friday afternoon.
Looking ahead to next weekend, high pressure builds back into the region and that means more sunshine for both Saturday and Sunday. Cooler temperatures will be sticking around with high temperatures still above average heading into the lower 40s on both days.
