Tracking multiple rounds of rain, warmer temps in Metro Detroit this week

Showers mostly expected Tuesday, Thursday

4Warn WeatherWelcome to Monday!

We’re waking up to temperatures around 30 degrees on this Monday morning. Skies will gradually become sunny into the afternoon. Conditions will be breezy with gusts of wind reaching 25 mph.

Today’s sunrise is at 7:33 a.m.

A weak cold front will settle through the region today, so temperatures will be a bit cooler today. Highs should still reach the 40s.

It will be cool tonight under clearer skies as lows drop into the upper 20s.

Tonight’s sunset is at 6:03 p.m.

Warm Valentine’s Day with rain chances

Temperatures on Valentine’s Day are still trending above average, topping out at or just below 50 degrees. During daylight hours, we will see partly cloudy skies.

Then, rain chances will increase across the area Tuesday evening. Any showers will come to an end by Wednesday morning.

Expect rather mild temperatures Tuesday night through Wednesday, with lows holding in the 40s and highs climbing into the 50s to around 60 on Wednesday.

With this system, winds will get gusty on Wednesday. Gusts up to 35-40 mph seem likely, with some potential of gusts approaching 45 mph at times. At this time, the scenario seems marginal for a wind advisory to be issued.

More rain moves in

Another system will bring a period of precipitation from late Wednesday night into Thursday. This will largely move in as rain, before a steady transition to a rain/snow mix occurs, and then just light snow as colder air overspreads the area.

With warmer surface temperatures, we aren’t anticipating much accumulation. Any precipitation that lingers into Thursday evening would be light and spotty.

Cool down, then warm up

We’ll see a sharp cool down from late Thursday into Friday with highs only in the 20s on Friday (and low temperatures into the teens to around 20 both Thursday and Friday nights).

Then, expect temperatures to rebound back into the 40s this coming weekend into early next week.
